If bluetooth is true that is good news. The PSP controls ar god awful for accuracy and cause me a lot of pain. Lets hope this mans as with the Go I'll be able to pair my PS3 controller with it. I won't b buying launch hardware, got no, I'll wait for a SLim&Lite version and only then if it was backwards compatible with my other PSP/PSN purchases.
Other than the 5" screen size, the rest seems like such a horrible waste of money in a portable GAME machine. I dislike Nintendo for the same thing with the 3DS. Ok, the DS did have a few neat uses for the touch screen. But implementing the sort of motion control in the Wii in a portable is retarded. How the fuck are you supposed to play the damn thing if you are swinging the unit around or twisting it around and shit? The cameras, why? I've heard something about augmented reality with card games or some dumb shit. They are adding unnecessary cost to the unit with these useless things. It'll be interesting to see once Sony officially announces it.
The accelerometer/gyro will cost next to nothing, they take up space but won't dent the overall cost. I think the potential for rotating games with the gyro is interesting (think Loco Roco), I'm less interested in the accelerometer as I can imagine that'll be mostly used for simple "shake the screen to make coins come out of the box" kind of gameplay. Obviously you can't swing a handheld console like a Wiimote and still see what you're doing. Generally speaking I think the feature set looks fine. No word on battery life, unsurprisingly.
i think i might love the double camera, UMTS, multitouch and gps all in one... BTW the resolutio is surprising... 960 x 544 instead of 960 x 540? that would be a perfect half full hd...
but it's exactly double the PSP's resolution so that makes me want to assume backwards compatibly will be present in some fashion (my guess just what's downloadable on the PSN). I doubt four pixels will make a huge difference for video. =P I for one am very excited about this now, and can't wait to hear a price on this. If it weren't for MegaMan Legends 3 I would cancel my 3DS order now. (Now I need both!OH
It has bluetooth and the same motion controls as the DS3/Sixaxis. Perhaps it will also work as a special PS3 controller with the screen etc? If the parts are cheap, why not include them?
Thats actually a very interesting idea. The GBA+GC was fun for zelda. Would be really cool to have a console game with some sort of touch interface plus almost a full controller.
They need to compete with Nintendo and Apple and part of the way they do this is by being on a relatively same level of ability and letting the sftware do the talking. I never tried Eye of Judgement but it looks cool, but I do have Invizimals and it is mildly amusing. Try them before you knock them
If every psp2 has 3G built in with optional subscription to get online, but a standard online component to the playstation store that costs NOTHING (like the kindle has) this would be genius. Through an AT&T or tmobile partnership (or other major carrier in different countries), allow people to purchase small games and add to a queue to download large ones when on wifi, as well as require all games to phone home to verify DRM over that 3G network. Just a thought
The problem with the DRM bit is that 3G is not available everywhere. I know here in Iowa it's very spotty to being around larger towns/cities.
Well without the drm it's still an awesome idea to sell games and other stuff to the 90% where it's offered.
I was not under the impression that these cost "next to nothing". If that is so, why do things like the Wiimote cost so damn much? They are just raping people on these things I guess.
