So my RVT-H was working fine up until just a few minutes ago.
I was playing a game which is somewhat prone to freezing. The game froze, so I held down the power button to turn it off. When I turned it on it just gave me a black screen.

Any ideas on what to do?

    EDIT:
I just realized that I think I know what might've caused it.
Just as the game froze I pressed the Home button. This is what it looked like right before I shut it off.

I'm gonna leave it to cool off for about 24 hours and see if that fixes it. Some people who have experienced the "Black Screen of Death" have reported that unplugging it, waiting, and then replugging it fixes it. I have no idea if this will work for me though.

Take a wired Game Cube controller and disassemble it. Then connect it at controller port 4 on the RVT-H. Push all four directions on the Gamecube D-pad circuit board using the rubber contacts pad. Power the RVT-H while holding it. If it powers on with the internal software version number at the bottom right corner of the screen, it's booting up and halting for some reason. A probable cause is a fault on the bluetooth module.

That procedure is how official Nintendo service unbrick consoles with softbrick. In that state the console will accept to boot special service discs.

    Update:
I tried the Gamecube controller method and it worked! I'm beginning to suspect more and more that the problem really is being caused by a broken Bluetooth module. The black screen, no sound, something halting it from booting properly, the fact that it crashed just as I pressed the Home button, etc.

I don't know if that really is the case, but I'm hoping it is. I have no idea when I'll be able to replace the module. Hopefully it'll be within the following two weeks or so.

If anything you can buy a retail wii for peanuts money and source the module from it. Don't get a broken one as there's a big risk you end buying another wii with this exact same fault (it's a common fault).

The module can be repaired if you know how to solder and how to dump/write to the module eeprom.

Wouldn't it be easier to just buy a Bluetooth module? I know there are websites out there that sell them.

If you can get just the module, sure thing. Of course.

i bought a WII that had a black screen on boot and apparently it took a tumble before this. When i got it i removed the Bluetooth Module and re-seated it , it took a few tries but the WII works now. So what i'm trying to say is remove the Module and re-seat it , it may work for you too.
