Sad but true, but pc style mods are being done on 360.

As if to confirm that 360 is pretty mucha pc in a box, some people have already started doing the ususal boring pc style mods on it.

Meaning crappy window kits, and neon tubes.

That has to be one of the ugliest things i've ever seen. That's worse then the guy who smashed one. At least the busted 360 doesn't have to go through life looking like that...

EDIT: Nice USB loopback... not. He should have just soldered the wires to the internal pcb.

True modders stick with PCs, not some poser xbox 360.

Doesn't look that bad. I wonder how long it will take for better aftermarket GPU coolers.

Now that would be a good mod for the 360, putting in better cooling solutions.

Erm, I don't think this means anything as far as being x360 specific, iv'e seen similar mods dor not only the xbox, but ps2 and gamecube as well. I blame the 17 year olds and thier honda "racing" fad.

Does anybody do any mods that don't involve Windows and Lights? Unngh.

PS: I think It's just as annoying on consoles too. If I see one more LED swap...[IMG]

This really is nothing new for consoles. How is this different from the console mods thread?

I think the paint job looks good at least. It could have done without the rest of the modifications though.

Hmm, this thread reminded me that I need to get some more Lego sets so that I can make a better looking 360 case :icon_toil

    Because it's so damn unoriginal.

Window kits are so damn lame, and scream pc. If you saw a window kit on a SNES it'd be pretty lame. Imagine one on a gamecube. Or a gameboy.

Window kits are a staight on pc mod. Soon they will have a bunch of UV fans in it, a water cooling block, etc.

If they wanted to do a cool mod, they could have made a new case out of fiberglass, or built a LCD into it.

Anyone can chop a hole and shove some plexi behind it.

Maybe they weren't trying to be original.... :icon_bigg

It doesn't seem like the whole "Pc mods on consoles" crap began until all the PC gamers bought an Xbox (after whining about it being just like a PC and there comp is better).

Yeah exactly, I second that. Most "mods" aren't even original anymore since everythings a damn kit, its never DIY original. How hard is it to stick an LED fan into a comp for chrissakes?
I still think the glowing lights and crap is cool, but it's pretty standard now on a lot of comps, it's not like its some new cool thing. I simply like glowing lights, which is why almost everything in my room glows...except my consoles. :eek:h:

  14. IMO, a console should be nothing more than a VCR. Boring silver box with an LCD and a tray that sits underneath that your TV. Nintendo did it with the NES, why did they stop? Now that we have wireless controllers, cheap LCD displays and tray loading DVD drives, can't we make a console that actually belongs with my VCR, DVD and cable box?

Because the NES was brought into the market in a trojan horse fashion. They wanted it to blend in with people's boring, boxy VCR's and cable boxes.

Times have changed and I for one am glad that consoles are more than just dull boxes.

I actually liked the mod, other than that damn cold cathode. I can't stand those things... I would've gone solid black with blue LEDs, but whatever.

I wonder when will people learn that most electronic devices look plain awful when the insides are visible (the reason I strongly dislike transparent cases). The only decent window mod I've seen was a full UV-reactive ink job on all electronic components. In the end, it looked like a small city.

The remote, on the other hand, looks quite good. More input devices should have backlit keys by default.
