do you have details for the mods?

 

I cannot vote yet but I do can say the Model 1 controller dosnt deserve any attention, not even a mod. I feel like my fingers get crippled when playing that thing, and its just so uncomfortable you'll end up actually hurting yourself.

However reading through here some people think quite the opposite to that, goes to show everyone is just too different both in taste and actual physically build. But that in mind I still cant get it into my head how one could actually enjoy playing something with the model 1. What kind of mutant hands do you need? *cough* ;-)

There might be a japanese saturn pad for me on the horizon, so if i'll get the chance to honor myself with the presence of that one, i'll probably hand off a vote for model 2. Looking at pictures it looks pretty much like the form of controllers I always enjoyed most, I am sure it wouldnt disappoint me. There has been much worse anyway, you could probably kill someone with an old xbox1 duke controller.

 

putting some turns of tape over the shoulder buttons switches so they'd be more responsive and replacing that not the greatest d-pads with one from a Mad-Catz controller... if I could take a pic, I would... but I my camera developed a bad CCD and best I can get is some wavy random surreal stuff

 

I definitely prefer the model 2. The first one is too big, wears my hands out.

 

Model 1 pad always hurts the thumbs playing fighting games. The L/R buttons also jam nails sometimes when playing fighting games because sometimes you don't know if you hit them square or not.

Model 2 pad (IMO) was the best pad ever made. They should make universal adapters for these things so they can be used on other consoles.

 

an LM 555, an 74LS393, an 74HC138 and four 74HC374 should allow you to use the standard Saturn pad on any other system (decodes the buttons on the stand alone signals, suitable, for example for a Super GUN adapter...)
