I want to know about the scart cable ans the US model saturn does it work with the US models or it has to be modded?
I want to make a Jamma harness for the saturn to connect it to the arcade without having to mod the saturn itself. I know the scart cable use the rgb and also sound so I can take the signals from the cable to the jamma finger board. I know the pal scart cable does not work with jap consoles, but I dont know about the US ones.

well for the jamma I dont need voltage just the RGB, sync and ground i dont need the scart plug just the cable with all the strand for those pins, but I dont know if anyone has used an scart cable on a US model, in this side those cables dont exist so I have to order one from the net and I dont want to buy one and have no use for it. I just dont want to take the signals from the saturn itself. If the scart dont work I'll have to buy a mini din connector and fully create the cable.

jamma wont need any voltage switching just the RGB and C-SYNC for video, although Arcade monitors expect a higher voltage / stronger RGB input than console RGB normally outputs. it may work straight up but depending on your display device it may be too weak / dull

edit: pinouts should be the same for the pins you need so a pal scart cable would be fine or even a japanese cable.

A normal (original SEGA) RGB cable doesn't use C.sync, so that could be a problem if your Arcade monitor is picky about the input signal. If you can't find a custom cable that uses C.sync you could always modify the AV out port on the Saturn to use C.sync on the composite video pin. I did that on my JAP Saturn, which is basically the same as a US.

You should never use a custom C.sync cable with a EU system since it has 12V on the same pin where the US and JAP models have C.sync. 12V into the sync line on your monitor is bad :)

EDIT: Missed the part where you said you would just cut off the SCART end of the cable. Nevermind then, any cable should suit your need :)

Yes you could just use the 12V wire inside the cable for C.sync on a US/JAP machine :)

Thanks for the info, I check the scart pinout and yes indeed the pin use for voltage in pal systems is use for sync on us-jap systems. So is time to start the project.

You still need to boost Saturn's RGB signal, though. There's a neat device that's used to connect consoles to arcade cabs called "RGB SCART to JAMMA adapter" (I can't post links yet..). Maybe this will save you some time :)

Suppose I were to make my own Saturn video cable, where would I get the male connector?

The saturn uses a Mini DIN-10 interface for its A/V Port.

This is the only place i can see that have them ready.

You need to be careful, since there are two variants of that connector - the one the Saturn uses has irregular pin spacing on the top row (the one with 3 pins) - there is another one (which seems more common) that has those 3 pins equally spaced.
