The Tower of Bable demo was actually incorporated in to Shenmue 2 ! The scene when you first head off to Kawloon when the camera pans across the sea to the city is identical to the movement from the tower of bable demo. Plus the area looks strikingly similar.

Yep for Thunder Force 6 it is the sad truth :crying::crying::crying::crying:At least we got 2,3,4 and 5 but still, looking at all the shooters released on the Dreamcast since its death, Tecno Soft's new owner could have a made a little effort to bring this gem to market :banghead: I hope they'll never make a Thunder Force themed Pachinko...:fresh:

I'd always suspected that the Kowloon introduction scene in Shenmue II was a little more than just influenced by that Tower Of Babel tech demo... as if the fact Yu Suzuki directed both wasn't enough of a possible clue! On the subject of Suzuki's earlier non-released Dreamcast "game" (if you can really describe it this way), does anybody know if it was playable or just a rolling sequence rendered in real time? Either way, I'd still love to get my hands on this along with the polygonal head of Shoirichirou Irimajiri that moved in synch with his New Challenge speech - now presumably that WAS pre-rendered or reliant on 'Iri-San' learning his lines before, unless Sega had some type of speech recognition system for the Dreamcast long before Seaman was announced...

Yeah sad isn't it? Though I'm very impressed with the jump, I guess that wrist of yours is much better now?

In any case there's not enough games with Penguins!!! Please can we get a remake of Penguin Adventures on XBLA.

Another Virtua Fighter 3 video? Yup.
This one comes from the Tokyo Game Show '96.

-link soon, my host is down-

Possibly the first unveiling of V.F.3 (at least that of Taka Arashi)

All the official pre-release show videos for the Model 3 version of Virtua Fighter 3 can be found together in the history reel of VF3tb on the Dreamcast, including the E3 '96 footage that - according to AM2, at least - lacks any kind of texture mapping on the characters. While I've no reason to doubt such a source, the results do seem a little too incredible. On the other hand, most criticisms about the game were centred around the way certain fighters' skin tones looked a bit pale so maybe it's right after all? Then again, I can't see how the complete version - whether in the arcade or on console - could have looked quite that good without a degree of such texturing, especially when you consider how detailed the clothing is in comparison!

P.S. One version of VF3 that I'd really like to see (apart from the two completed Saturn revisions, that is) is the August '96 build that was playtested in Japan as this supposedly featured many commands either changed or dropped entirely from the final edition. According to journalists who reported from this low-key event, several hardcore VF players were seen taking notes. I sure would like to know what exactly was different from the end product...

yep! I knew the tall buildings in Kawloon, and the camera panning across the area reminded me of the Tower of Bable demo.

While it's long been confirmed through the official video of Shenmue in its Saturn form that many elements were finished long before the project moved onto Dreamcast, could it be that the Kowloon intro section evolved from the "Tower Of Babel" tech demo or had there also been an earlier 32-bit version of this sequence as well? Considering there's a brief clip of Ryo and Ren handcuffed running through what seems like an early take on the Yellow Head Building in the bonus footage of Shenmue II, maybe it's true that a standalone Saturn game was near to completion after all? There's so many hints, spoilers and clues hidden within the released Shenmue games to suggest it could have been done much sooner and still has plenty more left to go. If only the powers that be could see sense and give Yu Suzuki all the financial backing he needs to realise his true vision for Shenmue then perhaps it might sell - who'd want to buy only a small fraction of such an ambitious game, anyway? Now that I think about it, perhaps it's not a good idea to discuss the concept of microtransactions here...

    Sure they do...

Releasing a game is very much an act of charity. You know what you paid for the item and are making a concious decision to give up that money in order that others might share in your new found treasure.

Yes it can be worth it, but don't fool yourself into thinking that your original will hold its value.

its value is not in money or money's worth. some things money cant buy. A value of a collection item is something that a collector feels within him for the item, which cant be translated into money. I wouldnt part with my X object no matter how much they would give me for the sole puprose that money I can make by working, but stumbling upon this unique item again?I don't think so:)

The right amount of money will *always* part a collector from his wares. ;)

And said collector is more likely to get the right amount if the game is undumped.

Barc0de I'd love to say that I wouldn't on principle alone, but a funny little thing called life sometimes gets in the way. I don't know much about your personal situation, but I do know that if I needed cash for something important I would have to look closely at my collection and start seriously considering sales. And as much as it hurts to realize it, dumping a game does hurt you in the long run.

So yes, if I had a SNES-CD and a fellow collector offered me a large sum of money AND I was in need of said money I would take it(think of all the other unreleased goods you could acquire with the right connections and that kind of cash). Besides, what's wrong with letting a few items float between the hands of collectors? It's not like I would sell something rare to someone who would destroy it.

What would solve that problem is if there were some way to release temporary copies of games. You'd download the game and after a certain period of time it would become corrupted or something. The problem with that is that somebody would probably find a way to hack into it and remove the time limit. Still, if it worked it would allow a large amount of people to play that game, but it wouldn't decrease the value. At a certain point nobody (except the owner) would be able to play it anymore.
