is not the first time it happens with a saturn, can't manage to keep savings (both game data and calendar/hour settings) even after replacin' batteries. Have another unit which keep game data saves but not calendar/hour. never found a fix to these problems, somebody could help?
http://assemblergames.com/l/threads/sega-saturn-long-life-battery.9053/ Interesting read. Hope this help's.
very interesting, but unfortunately doesn't help me. It should keep savings even with a low price battery, don't know it problem lies in faulty capacitors or things like that as I already experienced this tedious problem
Have you tried removing the battery, holding down the button for a few seconds and then putting the battery back in? If my fuzzy memory is working, I'm sure I remember some people having save issues, but it turned out there was some corrupt data already in there and resetting it solved it.
I had a similar issue (keeps game saves, but not settings) and figure it out a few years back. I can't recall where I posted but the component was in some sort of 3 pin smd package. IC35 http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=642434
sorry for delay in answerin this but tried to fix the console only yesterday unfortunately is a model without the button near the battery holder tried to switch IC35 with another one from a broken saturn donor...but with no luck....still won't keep date and hour.... thanks for all the tips
Have a look at IC25 - it's another 3-pin low-voltage reset controller, but connected to one of the chip enables on the RAM rather than the system management controller. If it's working properly, two of the pins should be high (with either Vbatt or VCC on them, depending on if the console is turned on or not). If you get 0V on in when the console is turned off, then check the little SMT diodes in series with the battery connection.
