I desperatly need to trash this 19" Walmart TV I have since it no longer lets me play any games or watch any TV (too fuzzy). I wanted to buy an LCD HDTV (or CRT, but that's prolly limited to a store only). I just want a TV that's above or at 20", can do 720p (or whatever makes it HDTV), is widescreen and has component (which I think all HDTV's have?). And I don't wanna spend over 500....400 is probably my preferred price.

Anyhow, does anyone know about these/how do they look? If anyone knows of betters please post them!

20 Inch (Seems like it'd be small for a TV but IDK, might be the best deal)

Some of those look good too. Can someone help me pick one? I was thinking of hooking up all my old systems plus maybe later a 360 and soon a Wii.
(Speaking of which, how do old 4:3 games look on these?)

I would check best buy's black friday ad. If theres one near you they have a few to select from if you feel like getting up early. Personally i wouldn't get one online due to the fact that few retailers have good return policies about dead pixels, and then theres the shipping cost factored it.

other than that i have fairly limited knowledge, tho i'm bias to newegg

I bought a low-end LCD recently. It's a 27" Viewsonic and it cost me 400 euros. I have seen more expensive LCD's and they are a lot a better, there's no arguing about it. However, that's not to say that mine is woefully bad. On the contrary, when used with a high def system I am very pleased with it. I think the worst part of it is the light bleed (which can be seen on a darker screen, where the edges are lighter in colour than the center).

So, I say go for it.

I was thinking on getting one from LG or Samsung. They both released new models here in Brazil, and the LG model (called Time Machine) even includes a 80GB to record till 33 hours of video (yes, it has a kinda of TiVo inside it).

I'll probably wait till January to see if i can get some discount.

Johnny, don't buy a LG, they are bloody awful. Get the Samsung over that.

I prefer the Samsung one too. Even the design is better.
It's this 32' model i'm looking forward (picture found on a message board).

The only thing that made me interested on the LG was that TiVo feature.
Thanks for the advice  You're the 3rd person saying that about LG.

Walmart, Circuit City, Fry's, BEst buy will all have killer deals coming this black friday. Prices of LCDs are falling faster than expected! Just wait and see.

I'd advise getting one with DVI/HDMI connections - otherwise you can only ever use an analog signal, which on a digital display is a waste.

My 2405FPW makes for a nice LCD but it's got problems if you want to use it on anything lower than 1080i/p or 720p. The fact that it doesn't stretch images very well sucks.

If a square inch on this display equates to a resolution of 10x8 or whatever it will only display 10 pixels by 8 pixels. If the entire display is 10" square then it will have a max of 100x80. If your picture is 10x8 it will take up exactly 1" square in the middle. No more.

480p looks horrible stretched to take up the entire display, at least on an XBox. GT4 looks terrible but it does on anything at 1080i. 720p Soul Calibur 2 looks great stretched as it's already pretty close (close enough visually) to a 1080i picture. Only the 2407FPW does hdmi, so I'm out of luck with the PS3.
