If you shop a lot via Amzon as I do then be wary of a scam mail going around that claims to be from Amazon Local (what ever that is). There are links in the mail that link to amazon.com/orders which seems like a legit link address until you notice that the real Amazon uses https addresses while this scam mail is just a normal http address. The mail also has a grammatical mistake on the first like saying "Well" when it should say "We'll". Another give away is the order number. The real Amazon uses a long number code not a short code like the one featured in this mail. Finally there's also a zip file enclosed. Amazon NEVER send you any zip files. No doubt there's a virus inside waiting to get out. Here's a scan of the mail. Oh, and nope, I never actually placed any Amazon order on the date it sates.
I usually just look at the email header and see if the address it comes from is really what it claims to be... if it is, I then proceed to look for other dubious stuff in the message itself. Email headers never failed me
Google is really good at catching these. The other thing I do is hover over the link they give. It never heads back to amazon. (Don't click it! Some scammers can tell if you clicked and will send you more since they know you received it)
Classic strategy - send these out en masse and you're bound to hit some people who coincidentally placed an order on the claimed date. I'd imagine the vast majority of users on this forum wouldn't fall for this but probably know people who would. I know I do so thanks for the heads up.
I lost you at the word email lol. I honestly can't remember the last time I used an email address for anything other than activating an account.
