I was at the bar. Went out to my car to make sure it was locked and got into a small coughing fit which turned into me waiting in the alley until I finally vomited. My digestive system is so bullshit. I had just ordered a drink, and taken two sips from it before I went out. I don't understand. Took me a good 4 minutes to stop feeling sick and cough-heaving. I also hadn't eaten anything but some chips in many hours, so it's not food poisoning. I couldn't even finish my drink when I got back in, it just brought back up the same feeling. Anyone have this sort of experience? I also have trouble brushing my teeth sometimes, it's like the combination of something near the back of my throat and toothpaste (which I totally love mint, BTW) makes me gag (which occasionally turns into an unintentional purge). I should probably go to a doctor, but obviously can't afford it. I used to think it was anxiety related (and then triggered by whatever physical stimulus) but I'm having doubts about that theory.
I think the first was due to having an empty stomage, when I start drinking I get the same effect if I don't eat enough.. good eating before hand always helps me, that or keep drinking until the feeling leaves. Funny to read I am not the only one with that toothpaste/brushing reflex, I have the same problem taking pills/swallowing them, and at the denist it's just a freaking hell with all the crap that needs to be placed in your mouth! I had the idea it all started with a sports accident I had once where I lost part of my uvula, and I got some kind of trauma since.
Mines the exact same. I get stomach aches puking or the runs in general just from eating basic stuff. Been that way for a few years now.
It doesn't have much to do with drinking. When it first started, I would have a couple of beers at my brother's house, go downstairs and outside to my car to leave (maybe hit the cold air?) and by the time I get to my car, I toss my cookies. To reiterate, last night I ordered my pint, took a sip, then remembered about the car being unlocked. So I hadn't had anything to drink except water all day. If I had gotten the tech job I'd been leaning on, I planned on the first thing I purchased to be a check-up at the good 'ol, creepy, mustached doctor of mine. Of course, that didn't happen, but I'm basically waiting/on-call for when they have another opening so I can start. Luckily I usually only get to the point of puking once every couple weeks, so it's not too horrible. Still annoying if I'm out of the house and get into that condition. I had my fingers crossed so damn hard that nobody would catch me in the act last night, I'm sure they'd think I was some idiot that was already wasted at 10:00PM. One interesting anecdote: I think I had "heartburn" (only way I could describe it) for the first time about a month ago. I was playing a show, had 12+16 ounces of beer over the course of two hours, and had this shitty burning sensation in my chest in what seemed to be the right spot. I didn't feel nauseous or anything, but it was definitely uncomfortable and nothing seemed to help it. Then again I can't remember at all what I'd eaten that night or anything, so it could have come from any number of things, I suppose.
The downside to the US health service. It's a sad sad thing that you can't go to the doctor because you can't aford it. Same in Japan. At least n the UK we can get treatment even if you do have to wait a while. I wish I could give some advice on your condition but to be honest I haven't got a clue what you could do except for relaxing and eat the correct food.
I use to have a lot of upset stomachs and gas pains until one day I started feeling dizzy and kept falling. Turned out I had an ulcer. Ever since then though I rarely have those issues. I have plenty of experience with acid reflex and it's not pleasant. I feel your pain about having no insurance.
I'm definitely stressed about stuff. I have thought of this as a culprit, but I never have any anxiety exactly when I get sick - it's always completely random (with the exception of brushing my teeth, which is obviously a bit of a trigger, but less important to me than totally random events of nausea). My diet isn't terrible or anything, but my eating habits (in regards to frequency and volume) haven't been anything near normal in over a year. I've gotten very used to eating when I feel I probably should (realizing I haven't eaten in X hours, and figuring it is a good idea even though I'm not hungry) as well as only feeling hungry later in the night closer to when I sleep. That being said, I don't eat any junk (I can't afford to have fast-food, so a burger comes maybe a couple times a month when my parents purchase it), it's usually semi-healthfood microwave (is that a contradiction?) meals. Oh well. I'll manage. Stomach? What did you do, medically/etc as a response?
Nope. Maybe a piece or two a week. The more I look into this, I feel it may just be impalpable repercussions from long-term, heavy anxiety (not a direct physical reaction, but a couple degrees away). The internets are making me lean toward a psychiatrist instead of a physician. Are they comparable, price-wise?
I had to have surgery to patch up the ulcer, requiring a long tube to go through my throat(go head and do your bj joke) the other option is taking pills, but that method takes a long time and resulting in having to deal with the pain longer. Also like you I use to have alot of stress and have panic attacks, but ever since the surgery I have mellowed out a bit and rarely panic these days. Another way to tell if you have an ulcer is if you have bloody stools, ie your crap looks almost completely black.
Well, it's good that my stool isn't black. I've had blood on the wipe every once in a while, but I think that's me just overdoing it a bit (call it "selective hypochondria" or something, haha).
Double post alert! It's amazing how much better I feel when I'm around people and doing things. In my totally unprofessional opinion, I've got a pretty decent case of Separation Anxiety Disorder. Now I just need to stay busy!
I do not have that. I can drink like there is no morning, and I won't getting sick or really drunken of it.
