I'm kind of surprised this hasn't already been mentioned in the news here, but Sega have announced in the last week that they're making a Daytona USA 3. Click the link for my video with more details: www.youtube.com/watch?v=-pio7oeOXT8
Nvm, I see it now. An actual link for those who are now super hyped like I. http://www.universityherald.com/art...ets-huge-facelift-sega-announced-new-game.htm
What do you mean 'an actual link'? Check the date that article came out, then go back and check the date I released my video, 2 whole days before it - reporting the exact same information.
With this and Sonic Mania, I'm starting to think that sega might be listening to their fans and making the games people want. Maybe Shenmue 3's initial reception helped with that? If that's the case, we might get Streets of Rage 4 as well.
First thought - Daytona 3? AWESOEM!1! Second thought - Arcade game? Well, f-ck me. Haven't seen a place that had any arcade machines in, like, a decade or so*, so the chances of me getting to play this in its original form are pretty much zero. And I'm sure I'm not alone in this. So let's forget about it for now, play the waiting game until it gets ported somewhere relevant... *The last one that had a few was a video rental place. Remember those? Yeah, another thing that's long dead and gone...
Uh. I dunno. All I know now is... OMGDAYTONA3YEZPLZ but wait where is a decent arcade? No where, that's where!
Sega Saturn Daytona is the only Daytona i have played Hopefully it works out like the way Outrun 2 turned out. (btw Outrun 2 is amazing)
*still rocking back and forth, waiting for Shenmue HD to exist* It'll probably be in Dave and Busters, if there's one of those in your area. They usually get all the big name arcade games (Star Wars Battlepod, anyone?). I hope you played the Championship Circuit Edition. The launch version is poo. Also Outrun 2 might be one of my favorite Xbox racing games.
its unlikely youre going to see this outside of japan unless round1 or dave and busters pick these up
Did anyone ever come across that modified version of Daytona where you could upgrade your car's components? http://www.arcade-history.com/?n=daytona-gtx-2004-edition&page=detail&id=31491
Daytona 2 looked great, just like 2001 but didn't have the charm or ring to the original. It was the simplicity of Daytona USA that made it fun, probably also how primitive it was. I've played Daytona USA Turbo on a real machine twice I think. Also had the optional "monster truck" ROM which did nothing other than make the wheels huge. Turbo was just crazy and uncontrollable.
