    Utsource has SMD 16.9Mhz ones. Cheap shipping if thats something? Maybee you could adapt a breadboard?

    Well, the calculation was right, just typed the wrong result. Which I have now fixed.

    Also, while we are fixing it....

    "Most of them are listed as 19.934MHz", you missed one

    Replaced Crystal, same issue, Does it matter which legs are soldered where? Continuity is present. Now I get “checking disc” then “no disc” possibly found a bad cap although I’m having trouble figuring out how to accurately test a cap with a multimeter :/

    You can't test a cap with a multimeter.

    Crystals polarity doesn't matter.

    Not to be a partout jerk, but if you decide to throw in the towel. I need the straight white gear from a cdx to fix one of mine.

    OK, that "no disc" message means that the drive was unable to read the ToC from the disc. Unfortunately, there are lots of things that can cause that.

    What exactly happens when you close the door switch? Does the lens do a focus sweep (moving up and down)? Does the disc move at all? There is a fairly complex process that the drive MCU goes through when it starts to read a disc and knowing exactly where in this process it's failing is a good indication of where the problem is.
