The problem is, last time i try to read a rom i crashed it, long story. It was the Lufia prototype when you guys remember...
So i sworn me i NEVER will try this again, Sorry.
But i remember on the MD exist a tool where you can dump the bios from the controller Dsub9 port. The Katana has also a serial port.

Today i got my new fan for the PSU. So i installed it and tryed the the new battery, it works :D.
Noise and airflow of the new fan are awesome.
The heatsinks do also a good job. I was around 35° after 10min.

So anything is really silent at all. But i found another noisy spot. I marked it in the picture above. Its some kind of buzzer. Sounds like a HDD lol??? Anyone know this part? Is it maybe damaged? Sound from the buzzer is on startup some clicks and after that a noise like a running HDD. Not so loud but...

Looks to be on a riser board, perhaps a PC speaker?

My first thought with this was you could just have "noise" on the circuit after installing aftermarket fans?. Any chance of installing original fans to see if the buzz goes away?

No has nothing to do with the stock or custom fans. There is no signal on the Fans. Btw the buzzer is not so noisy at all. when you in front of it with your ear you can hear it . I thinks this is normal, because the katana boots up fine with the old hdd. With closed case you hear nothing from it.

Why did you add the fans on the new heatsinks ?
Just as precaution, or because the temperatures went too high without ?

Just to be sure anything keep cool.

I think i found the problem with the buzzer.
    The battery are empty lol.
I checked it and it has 0.3V, without battery the buzzer is quite...
So i replaced the old buzzer and order a new ML2032.
But im not 100% sure. I also reflow the blue cable.

Can i provoke a buzzing from the katana? Maybe set some I/O from sdk?

I don't know of any function of the Katana SDK or Kallistios that would do this... but I'm not a specialist of those SDK...

I guess disconnecting some components should fire up the buzzer, but it could be risky I guess...

got it back. was a short on the solder point. Such old hardware is a nightmare to solder...
So it work correct. Got also the new ML2032. Work also fine.

Maybe you guys can help with running software with the katana. I know that some retail GD run, some not.
I want to know how i have to create a image for the GD emulator.
I know there is a way with the sdk (GD Workshop). Is it also possible to create a image and burn it to a normal CD?
    Some help will be great.

You can't run cd-rs unless you use an image of a bootdisc in the katana gdm (mark30k1 did that using utopia iirc).
Games that don't work are the ones that use the flash for the region, like shenmue.

The devkit flash doesn't have that flag, so it's probably read as an invalid value. It'd be worth checking the executables or the flash could be patched to work.

I made a video with sound from the bootup. Can someone with a katana tell me sound is normal from the buzzer?
