It seems every single master system has become so brittle and fragile, some gentle finger pressure can push the plastic in.

Master system does have a very thin shell, thinnest I think I've ever seen, but this is just depressing.

It makes them nearly impossible to ship.

Now master system II is much thicker plastic.

Agreed! My friend broke his Master System's plastic clear screen part by cracking it... while trying to remove a game cart. We need to preserve these as best as possible, lol.

agreed, I had one fall from a small bookcase and it shattered a corner of the top casing. Took me like an hour of gluing it back into place. I wonder if it is caused by the same thing as the snes cases. After they turn yellow the same thing seems to happen.

I had a Master System 1 for a while and it seemed stronger than my N64, they both fell off my shelf in an earthquake and the N64 came out of it cracked. To be fair there was a cart sitting in the slot though...

This is to be expected of old plastics.
Although the original Atari 2600 still holds up like a tank.

I was thinking the same thing. Every game console from the 70's with wood is superior than modern solutions like glossy plastic.

It's actually better to own a master system for SMS games as the Genesis/Mega Drive can't play many SMS games or SG-1000 games. This is because the Genesis/MD's VDP only supports SMS video mode 4. The non supported games will run but you will have no video.

Mine is in its Sega case and is perfect. The case was modified so cables can exit the rear and the consoles screws were put through the case to keep it in place inside. Its never been exposed to sunlight unless it was being used. There's a few marks on it, but its perfect apart from that.

for my experience the worst shitty plastic is the one used in usa snes, when they are yellowed you can crumble them like meringues

It's starting to get hard to find one here that isn't yellowing. The plastic is terrible in these things.

Oh, snap, is that why my Wonder Boy in Monster Land freezes up when it starts? All my other games have worked, I figured it was just a busted board. Is there a list of compatible games anywhere, by chance?
