If that was true then why do all the Model 2 games I've tried work fine and why does the opening on Sega Touring cars work fine yet the main game doesn't? Here's what runs full screen at full speed: Daytona USA Dead or Alive House of the Dead Zero Gunner Virtua Fighter 2 Rail Chase 2 Super GT (that Jelaco game) Sega Rally Sky Target yakumo
I m not versed in the emulator at hand, but from experience I can tell you that different operations may take vastly different number of cycles to be emulated, be it due to algorithm deficiencies, a bug, or even the game's bad programming in certain parts making it hungry for more resources. I have seen an extraordinary leap in performance when it comes to emulators since I changed my PC. I use to have a P4 @ 2.71, 1280MB DDR RAM and an ATi 9700 Pro with 128MB VRAM and although I could play n64 games OKAY for te most part, as well as Saturn and Dreamcast (kinda slow) i was given power to spare with my new specs. My system is now a Core 2 Duo (2x 64bit cores) at 2.93Ghz (the processor cost me 100 euros), 4GB DDR3 @1066Mhz RAM (cost me about 40 Euros), and an ATi HD 4850 (cost me about 65Euros) and not only does it run all current games on the PC on their highest settings (for most games) but emulators such as Dolphin run at near perfect frame rate! I was able to succesfully play Super Smash Bros Melee on my PC, two player, and keep the pace, despite some loss of framerate at constant..it was well playable though. I think modernizing your PC by going the multi-processor route is a good bet considering more and more applications are not only optimized for multicore but those that aren't often leave a better taste in your mouth if they get into hogging, considering you've got one or more cores available to seize control or give more power Overall, I think there's enough power in PCs with modern components to make for some interesting emulation platforms so if you're into that sort of thing, think about it.. So, further to the above rant, someone please PM me where I can locate the Touring Car files and I ll give it a shot myself!!
just send me your mail address and I'll send it. To noboy else mind you so please don't bother asking.
Nice quality vid. Yeah I would say for sure it's your processor. Theory I would have is the attract is programmed where all cars move at a fixed path. When your playing a regular race I would imagine more processng would be needed as the Ai for the cars your racing would require a little more processing. As far as which right version you are using, for dual cores it will be labled multi cpu. I got admit when version v9 came out it was amazing since it was the first emu to play the arcade version of vf2!!!! You wouldn't believe how much better it is then playing that dumbed down ps2 version. Another funny thing I noticed is it is a lot easier to play top skater using a keyboard then it's skating controller in the arcade.
Thanks for pointing out this emu, been having a blast, the 4 or so games ive tried have ran a dream....i'm really enjoying Super GT 24, the long course is brill! Can't find a good control scheme for Top Skater, im using a 360 pad which is so good for racing games.
I had the same issue, with top skater just stick to keyboard it's alot easier. I still couldn't figure out a way to configure the gas and brake on the triggers for sega touring car
It's the same as the other racers. I use the Saturn style USB PC pad so the break and accel are set as default, left and right. No idea why but they are. So go in to the options and change left and right to A and B on the controller. There you have it. Full controls. Now use the settings in the service mode to configure the sensitivity of the steering to suit your taste. My Model 2 Daytona now feels just like playing the Saturn game. Pure bliss!! Yakumo
So, have they changed it so you can use something other than an axis to brake and accelerate (ie. use the buttons)? Because that was really annoying the last time I used the Model 2 emulator. edit: Oh yeah, I read that last post a little closer, and apparently not, but at least there seems to be a workaround..
I m ready to play some but..how do you start this thing? I edited the .ini file, setting the correct path, unzipped the game's data inside the appropriate folder and all I get after I select the game is "unable to load file" followed by the filenames of the zip's contents. Please advise!!
You don't unzip the games. Leave them as they are. I'm sure the one I sent you wasa rar file. Just load that.
The game runs perfectly fine (with power to spare - i had firefox open with a list of other applications running), too bad I can't find a way to support analogue controlling by the 360's joypad. I m curious to try out more classics =)
What pad are you using? If its an xbox360, you have to go into the ini. file and put a "1" next to the line of text, then double click on accel or break on the control menu to change them to triggers...then select them with a tick in the box.
Nice!!! I'm now a very happy chappy!! Daytona USA Model 2 on my big TV! I know it's nothing new but the HDMI / VGA / S-Video / Composite out on my new video card now lets me play PC stuff on the TV in high resolution. Great stuff. It's like being in the arcade well, it woudl be if I had a good wheel set up but for now it's bliss. Now to get a dual core CPU for some Touring Car action as well. Man, this emulator is fantastic. Yakumo
does any Steering Wheels for pc work? for this emulator hey Yakumo I you pay in 16.9 look nice I play my in a plasma hdtv
You can alter the sensitivity of the analog controls in the game's set up screen. The way I have it set up is just like playing the Saturn game plus I'm using the USB Saturn pad which makes this the best ever. I tried it in 16:9 but didn't like the deformed cars.
SEGA Touring...is hard, especially using a controller =p make sure to put 1 next to VSYNC in the .ini file, the framerate will feel more solid/consistent.
