I might be jumping to conclusions here, but http://burningrangers.com is hinting at there being some kind of BR-themed announcement later in the year. Does anyone know more about this?
Don't torture yourself, guys. Assuming it's real, you know it's gonna suck. It's Sega now, not Sega then.
Well the trademark for Burning Rangers is dead, and that's the only thing that comes up when I search for "Burning Rangers". So may nobody ask about a new trademark.
The site is hosted on http://www.bluehost.com/ Sega has their own servers. Plus look at the page source
Johnny speaks the truth... I believe there are two reasons why most of them have disappeared. 1 - F1M will sue anyone that hints at any game that looks F1 but isn't, so no more games featuring Firreri or Williems teams going around Monaco. So game have to feature cars that aren't F1 looking going around original tracks (it's possible to get sued for using a track that is FIA approved without license). 2 - In this era of exclusive licenses it's unlikely that anyone except one company will have a license to make F1 games. I miss the early 90s when FOCA licensed the game rights to Fuji TV who then sublicensed it to a large number of companies meaning you had a fantastic number of F1 games in the arcade, computer and console.
Eh? The trademark is valid. http://www3.ipdl.inpit.go.jp/cgi-bin/ET/ep_detail.cgi http://www.ipo.gov.uk/domestic?domesticnum=2141582 Expires 2017. Standard 20 year trademark. OK sure, the earlier US one may have been cancelled... http://tess2.uspto.gov/bin/showfield?f=doc&state=4003:7ngrls.2.1 ...but they still have the Japanese and UK trademarks. If you want to know what it'll be like, look at Nights on 360. And Sonic. Enough said!
I call B.S. This screams fake to me, just based on the amateur design work. Grab your Burning Rangers box and compare the logos. Not only is the font quite dissimilar, but look at the placement of the letters on the web logo. There was no thought put into it, while the official logo has perfect spacing. Plus it was registered by "FastDomain", which seems to be the same company as "BlueHost". Other Sega sites list Sega themselves as the registrant. Plus, as drx pointed out, the page source also looks too basic to be official. Perhaps there's simply a fanboy employed at the web hosting company. Nice catch though, Anthaemia.
Exactly... Still, Polyphony Digital used some classic F1 cars on GT3 (when the F1 license was with EA Sports). The cars are easily identified although not named accordingly or having fake sports. Here's a video with all. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2CBIHCW44jQ F090/S = Formula 1, V10, 1990, Senna F094/H = Formula 1, V10, 1994, Hill F094/S = Formula 1, V10, 1994, Senna :crying: F686/M = Formula 1, V6, 1986, Mansell F687/S = Formula 1, V6, 1987, Senna F688/S = Formula 1, V6, 1988, Senna Anyway, on the last days i had a blast playing Super Monaco GP, Grand Prix Star, F-1 Grand Prix Star II, Virtua Racing, F1 Exhaust Note, Slipstream... Plus remembering the ones that arent emulated yet like Final Lap, F1 Super Battle, F1 Super Lap,... Man those games used to be "coin eaters" on Arcades, before Daytona owning the place ray:
SEGA should do a Burning Rangers on the Wii. Wiimote, firefighters; think about it. Same goes for JSR.
you want an arcade F1 racer? Trackmania Nations, it's free and an amazing game, although made with a pad in mind, not a wheel.
I never understood the appeal of Burning Rangers. I found it incrediably disapointing. Repetitive, bland and short. I thought that the voice navigation was pretty cool, though.
Get out of here, Trackmania Nations is not an F1 arcade racer, even if people have done some realistic F1 cars and have attempted some F1 tracks, all of them don't seem right.
short excursion: Was it the JPN version of Burning Rangers or Deep Fear which you could play in English?
