I think what people ment was it didn't look photo realistic, which I prefer. I agree with barcode sega rally 2 did have the best art direction. For some reason when racing games try to go extremely photo realistic, it just reminds me too much of gran turismo, which sends chills down my spine.
what is -in my opinion- fundamentally flawed in the concept of a game such as Gran Turismo, is that it labels itself a simulator..simulating a car with a fucking control pad? and with no wear'n'tear? or no gas-limits? no engine-blowups? no crashing engine? no wind/air direction effecting the car's steering? For that reason, I keep clear of a simulator wanna-be, and stick to driving a real car. When I do want to kick some ass and have tons of fun thouhg, I slide coins in a SEGA RALLY 2 arcade machine which reminds me, how much would a SR2 arcade cabinet cost?
No idea (I would like to know that too) but I know you can get some pretty cheap cabinets when an arcade goes bankrupt.
lol, i thought pretty much the same thing, yakumo. i didn't think it looks cartoony either. and sure we all have different takes and opinions on things. what looks good to one, may not look good to another. just from the screenshots i saw, in my estimation, the game looks good. and just as you noted, i hope it plays well, too. i don't care what a game looks like as long as it plays well. as a side note, i took somewhat of a chance on the GT racing game for wii and i love it. the control on that game is pretty tight in my opinion. i also don't think the graphics are as bad as everyone is saying. personally, i think it is one of the best experiences i've had playing a racing game, due to the controls alone...
