What I'll do is make a Sega Japan Video CD collection from Saturn to Dreamcast (Best adds) in MPEG or how about Super VCD? We could get better quality with that or would that make the videos look shitty? Yakumo
The quality difference between VideoCD and SuperVCD isn't really worth the effort, plus I won't be able to view SVCD on a Saturn (for some reason it would be fantastic if the disc Yakumo made could be played on my Sega hardware - watching it on a DVD player would just be a bonus to me). However, does anyone know if a PAL system can run NTSC-formatted files? If not, would it be too much to ask for regionally encoded versions of the disc? Whatever happens, I know that in Yakumo's hands the end product will be a good investment... and hopefully a lot cheaper than buying the original Sega Partner collection or those Segata Sanshiro discs! P.S. Wasn't there a video for Yukawa's "Dreamcast" single in addition to his more well-known commercials? If there's room leftover after all the Segata-themed content, I'd love to see this as well - even if it requires a second disc to fit all of this great Sega footage on!
SVCD uses MPEG2 just like DVD but in different format - and no protection as from what I told it was developed to counterattack DVD with its protection scheme... anyway Saturn won't be able to play since MPEG card is for MPEG1 only - VCD uses MPEG1. You should be able to run NTSC VCD/SVCD on your PAL DVD player provided it supports SVCD... It will output just NTSC and most recent PAL telly does both NTSC and PAL and some high model does fancy thing in between...
well, at the moment guysthe Segata-san Shiro disc is on hold. far too busy now thanks to work giving me a shit load of jobs It will come in the future though. I'm not too keen on the idea of normal VCD though. I can convert the normal MPEG to DVD standards without any problems since I'll run them through my capture card. So I'm thinking about SVCD or DVD. DVD may be best because of the menu system. Yakumo
OK guys I made the DVD about a week ago but forgot all about it until today On the DVD is every Segata-san Shiro TV add (including the two versions of the Chritmas add) plus a few specials such as the music video, the making of the Christmas add, Dreamcast Tech demo, D2 preview and Dreamcast TV adds as well as others. Here's a few shots of the DVD in action on my PC. THe menu screen is animated by the way. You can download the 1.4gig file if someone can host it (I have no space to host it) or buy the DVD for the cost of the disc plus postage which will be 6 pounds. The DVD will work in a normal DVD player or PC. Yakumo
