I plan on doing a comparison of guts as well. Based on outside though seems most of conversion occurs where the cord connects in.
Some real quick impressions. Controls pretty well with the analogue stick despite shorter distance from center. Tried Metropolis street with it and cars controlled well. D-dap extremely responsive with street fighter alpha 3 even more so than ascii official fight pad. If you have the switch on dpad mode analogue triggers are disabled but when turned on analogue triggers are active but so are z and c buttons. Sorry for not much in depth look but I want to do a video on this but trying to find a good video editor to use with windows which has been an adventure itself. Might have to cave and buy a copy of sony movie studio as free ones are a bit cumbersome and complicated to use..
That means it's not included and you won't get any customer support for it but you can still install and use it http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows-live/movie-maker
Very interesting. Maybe we could see this replicated; I absolutely love the Saturn 3D Pad's Joystick.
I'd love to see this on aliexpress. I'd buy two instantly. Spoiler Sorry for namedropping it all the time but I've only recently discovered it's wonders. I mean a custom cart for 6 dollars? Still can't believe it even though I've got wolfenstein for md in my hands
New update took it apart. Inside of 3d pad is untouched all conversion occurs in detachable cable. There is definetly some work going on in conversion process with one small chip on one side and a big one on other. Here are some comparison shots with a regular 3d pad cable.
Interesting. Does the Analog stick and D-Pad function together on the DreamCast, or do you still need the switch?
I didn't check that aspect but analogue and dpad functioned like they would normally when I tried metropolis. Street fighter alpha 3 was only game I experimented with switch.
Any idea if the plug works with an official 3d controller? If so, I'd be very interested in them Oh, hang on, so in dpad mode Z & C do nothing on the DC? That's quite crappy...
You could try Half Price Books, they have a lot of locations in the Midwest and Pennsylvania https://www.hpb.com/stores/
