It is no secret that depending on their regions, there are some versions of Sega Saturn games, that are better than others. Some got some programing tweaks, others got extra stuff thrown in, or stuff removed.
I know that the japanese version of Doom, runs smother than the american version; that Daytona CCE, in Japan got some graphical tweaks; of course there is the Pepsiman character in Fighting Vipers.
Could you guys point to other examples?

It's still a load of shit. Don't belive the fanboys on other sites saying that Japanese Doom runs great because it doesn't. I've played the PAL one and it was bloody awful. I own the Japanese one and yes it's slightly better but still bloody awful.

What's the difference between the american and japanese version of Daytona CCE ?

I know that the japanese version of Sega Rally is better than the released in america / europe / brazil. I think it was Yakumo that posted it.

The JPN version of Daytona CCE has tweaked controls making it handle more like the original rather than the crap the US got. It also features the original BGM as well as the awful remixed music. Oh, and it's link up from what I remember.

Sega Rally JPN has two versions. Both are better than the US one. The first one is the same as the European release but Sega Rally Championship PLUS has loads of cool features such as online VS. As for the differences between the US and first JPN release I can't really recall off the top of my head but I do remember the JPN version having more side track detail, more sound effects and all round more polished.

That's cool. I have to try to play the japanese Daytona CCE. That terrible remixed music made me hate the game, more than the sluggish control.

Sega Rally Plus also supports the Analogue controller properly too.

Compared to the USA version (which is really different from both, no link-up) it's better. There's not much difference between the PAL and JPN versions, true. (still, 60h > 50h)

There's not much I can think of where the PAL or USA release had anything over the JPN versions. Wipeout PAL has one more BGM track than the JPN version, Sega Rally PAL had some things (a new mountain on the mountain track I recall) over the original JPN and USA versions but Sega Rally Plus indeed made up for that.

"best version of titles by region": difficult to say, but you can be sure there are most of the time something different between each territorial versions (something added, something deleted, bug fixed,...).

    Only one example: Baku baku
JPN version has options not available in the EUR and USA version
EUR version has an extra CDDA track you can listen to
JPN version got a bug fixed revision, so it could be "better" than the EUR/USA version after all

I was really looking forward to Doom Jap, but after reading what Yakumo says, i think i will pass.
Is it true that the jap version of Sega Touring Car runs smother that the USA one?
It would be cool if there was a less glitchy (graphically) version of Last Bronx.

nope. Probably not. I've never seen the US version but I can't imagine it being any worse than the Japanese one. More fan boy bull shit I'm afraid  The Japanese version has a God awful frame rate and even looses frames when things get busy ! Still, I like the game.

The best way to play touring cars is to use a PAL version on a NTSC machine. Runs faster but you do have the problem of the bottom of the image being cut off due to the PAL version being optimized.

The Japanese version comes with a cool training disc as some lovely stickers, oh and a move guide sheet that doubles up as a poster. These alone are worth buying it over the PAL or US version. The main game is just the same as far as I know.

Well, I liked the PAL version of Keio 2 anyway.

Jeff Janssens probably misses from the US/PAL Winter Heat.

Think they integrated the training disc on Last Bronx.

The PAL Baku Baku remix was by Richard Jacques.

    /information end.
