Thought this was interesting so I ordered this cart from a store in HK for around AUD$11. Anyone know it's background? Is it a Pirate cart of some sort? From what I could gather it's a Action Reply, 4M and RAM on a switch. I'll pop it open when it arrives, if anyone is interested.
Wow, that's one crappy looking cart but it would be interesting to knwo what it's like. I have a memory cart with a switch as well although that looks like a regular Saturn memory cart. yakumo
Hey a switch between direct saving and Action Replay functions sounds wonderful. IIRC technical limitations prevent the 'ideal' Saturn cart but that'd get us closer.
Yeah, I'm wondering so myself. There seems to be no branding what so ever, does yours have a brand or anything? Also does this cart look big to you?
The cart i have is just plain white. No brand at all. I'll open it up tomorrow and take a few pictures. I'm off to bed now.
Our SEGA in Heaven, hallowed be Your name, Your new life come, Your game done on earth as it is in heaven, give us today our games, and lead us not into shit games, but deliver us from Sony and Nintendo, For the MegaDrive, the Saturn, and the Dreamcast are Yours, now and forever, SEGA!
I believe I have some Chinese SS cards produced by Xinga. They have a switch on the front to configure it from 1MB to 4MB (depending on the game). Nothing too special to be honest.
Nothing too special...but really useful considering how slowly 1M games run with a 4M cartridge. At times it's like watching a slide show.
The place I got it from is out of stock. but here you go anyway: http://gamedoctorhk.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=72_2_18_114&products_id=1306
If I had access to the kind of hardware necessary to produce my own shells, I can't imagine that would be anything but a prototype for testing.
Yeah, it is very old.. but it took a few attempts in order to get it to boot. Weird. Anyhow it works. So I'm happy.
Well, first thing is that the Saturn's cartridge port is complete shit. many people claim it's 3rd part carts that damage it but that's just one of those rumors that sort of became an urban legend if you know what I mean. Even a brand new never used Saturn will have issues with the cartridge slot. First thing you should do is clean the contacts on the actual cartridge. make sure they are free from dust. then check the Saturn's cart slot. Give it a blow just to remove any dust that may have entered it. Here are some pictures of my strange Saturn memory cartridge. It seems to be a normal memory cartridge with a switch bank. Not sure why you'd do that since a Saturn memory cartridge can be hudge in size. On the insides it looks as if they may have made action replay versions of this cartridge. There are spaces for more chips plus connection pads at the top for the I/O port like an official Action Replay. Yakumo
