Has anybody heard about Sega's big announcement at E3? All I know is that it's called "Sega Spectrum" and a logo image was leaked. I can has Dreamcast 2? :applause:
Spectrum would signal it's unifying many platforms on one, probably an emulator for xbox one. My guess: Sega genesis Sega Saturn Sega Dreamcast games on xbox one
By the look of the logo it's not a new game. The logo is too corporate for that. It has to either be a console or a new service/network of some sort.
Spectrum = all colors of the rainbow, i.e. all sega consoles in one. It's just an emulator you have to pay per game, you can bet your ass there will be consequences for mame and other emus.
It's been pointed out that the picture might be fake. The "SEGA" logo looks off from the normal font, it was made with some other font. (the S and A are completely off)
Like wut? Nothing happened in the past 15+ years, and SEGA had already been releasing tons of retro compilations in that time.
This isn't new news. I saw this about 2 weeks ago. Even then nobody knew what it was. It probably won't be any new hardware but some sort of download service. And the logo isn't fake.
I was guessing probably some mobile platform. But yours makes sense actually. Spectrum really doesn't sound like the name of a console...at least a Sega one. Oh God I hope it's not for the XBOne...only. As long as it's not exclusive that's fine. It'd be cool if it was a program you could pay for, and play your own Saturn/DC games on it on PC/XBO/PS4 , AS WELL as buy games. ALA PS1 games on PS3 and PS1 classics. But I know it'll never happen. Sony could just as easily do that for PS1/PS2 on PS4 as well. But they'd rather just charge you for some shitty streaming service only.
Nailed it. One big official collection of emulators, complete access to full rom sets legitimately for all sega consoles, hence it "spans the sega spectrum"
If it's going to be multiple system emulation, wouldn't something like Solar System be better? Most of the consoles Sega made all had code names from planets of the system.
things like galaxy and universe etc have been overused recently although Sega Solar System has a nice ring to it. also this Spectrum may just be a codename
Well, it would be one step in the right direction to get me to buy the Xbox one. Still very, very unlikely though.
