Keep going man. Set up an alarm that goes off every hour or so to make sure you are still awake.

I don't know about any studies, it's just something I had results with myself. I had sleep issues in the past and someone recommended zinc.
I tried it and it made me dream pleasantly, not waking up in the middle of the night. I didn't use any other supplements during that period.

Man, I'm glad I don't need an alarm clock anymore!

For years now I am consistently waking up before my phone's alarm clock goes off.

With two exceptions so far, one alcohol induced coma :) and the other time I was awake for some 30hrs before going to bed.

This! Everything is a habit. You must go to sleep every day almost the same hour.
At first will be very difficult, but then you'll get used to it...

When I was student, experimenting the same problems you do, couple of respiration exercices helped me much.

Doing this 10 minutes before the time I wanted to go to bed (because, for instance, I HAD to sleep 7 hours for an important exam ^^) was the insurance to sleep well.

Hope it will work for you as it worked for me :)

Takes time for your body to adjust. Mine will probably take a month because I sleep at 5 AM and get up a 2 PM  Not very healthy at all.
