  1. $5 sent, hopefully we can pull this off in time. I'd hate to see these boards disappear all because the DCMA and their evil little web-spies.... bastards.

I don't want to see all this information getting lost, so I donated 5 Bucks. That's me as a newbie, just joined yesterday.

    Good luck guys !

I say you ask Albert At AtariAge. You have an account there, and he changes the forums host alot. Perhaps give him a ring for a possible converter.

Once the mortgage and shit clears from my account I will be able to know what I can chuck in, but I'm afraid it won't be a lot.

I'm sending money via snail-mail (or money order if there's a way... I'll check) tomorrow. Copied the adress, I'll buy the dollars tomorrow to send them.

If there's only 24 hours, though... I'll have to go to the bank first thing tomorrow morning.

Guys, thanks so much for all the donations !!! We are doing really well !!! I don't want to post how much we have so far so I'll leavethat to our main guy to post. I did get a paypal payment from someone who I won't mention here which says the following.

"This eCheck payment will remain "Uncleared" until the funds clear from the sender's account, which usually takes 3-4 business days. If you are shipping an item, please do not ship your item until the funds clear into your PayPal account. You will be notified by email when the funds clear into your PayPal balance."

Does this mean I have the $20 or not? I'm not sure if I should add it to the total. From reading the message it seems not. Any how, thanks so much EVERYONE for the donations. I've got all mail addresses of people who donated just in case something happens to ASSEMbler's PM data. Still time to add more donations!

yeah, I think I will. Coming up to 5:20am so I'm off to sleep. I have to go out tomorrow but I will be back in the evening. Then I'll sign up for the software on behalf of ASSEMbler.

    A few quesitons

-Does $160 buy the license forever?
    -Any monthly fee?
-Will you get control of the database again? (IE -- be able to make changes you want to?)

While there's no easy converter for PHPBB (did you check phpbb.com forums -- those guys know everything) it's probably not hard to salvage quite a bit of it. However, I'm sure it will take a lot of time.

You have other options. You can pay for the VBulletin license, and take daily backups of the DB, all the while figuring out how to convert it to PHPBB. If it's a MySQL database, it shouldn't be that hard. Posts would be easy. Poll's and other stuff might be tricky though.

  15. Wow, here's what I get for sleeping in! My donation's on the way; it's not much, but hopefully it helps a little bit.

Aren't you always like that? I know I am...

It's forever, no way I am getting suckered into their "yearly" package.

I've been experimenting, so far, it keeps corrupting, it seems the php has some custom header I have to deal with.

I'm sure if I do a clean install of vbulletin, without all he hack shit that keeps fucking up, it'll be fine for now.

    EDIT:
Here's some threads that might help:
    Link 1
    Link 2

It seems possible, but round-about. There's an entire forum at phpbb.com talking about converting. I'm sure there's some people here that aren't too bad with MySQL either that wouldn't mind helping.

Doesn't that only include updates for a year? After that it's $30 a year for updates, although over the course of a year that chump change.
