And while we're at it ... Has anyone ever run one of these n64 dev boards in an Indigo or Indigo2 ? The Indigo has gio32 slots, like the indy, so that seems a no-brainer. I'd prefer a maxed out Indigo2 maximum impact, but I don't know if you can slot gio32 boards into gio64 slots ... Has anyone attempted the n64 dev board outside of an indy[1] in any capacity? [1] challenge/S doesn't count
Ok, never mind - the n64 board is a double wide GIO32 so it will not fit into an indigo2. It will physically fit into an Indigo, but why bother. No guarantee that it will work there anyway. r5k-180mhz indy is the way to go with this.
I'm not sure about that. We kept all our Indy's as 5.3 during the life cycle of the U64 board usage (we changed to Partner-64's and my own system I created). I know I got the tools to run on post-5.3 IRIX (on my Indigo-2 Extreme), but I am not sure about the device drivers. --Selgus
That's good to know ... I am going to run on 5.3 and leave it at that. The indy can be the legacy machine and the tezro can run 6.x.
Hello, My questions may be irrelevant. Does anyone know if SGI stations were used during the entire period of Nintendo 64? Does Super Mario 64 was developed with these softwares : C++ Photoshop Softimage MultiGen GameGen Thank you
I'd hate to disappoint, but really not that much to tell. I wrote my own debugger/monitor/downloading firmware/software that could be used with a Dr.64jr as sort of a low-cost development environment. To be honest, it was more of a hobby type of thing, since we did have a bunch of Indy's and Partners. I wrote my own firmware for the Genesis dev card I had, and the debugger that ran under Linux. I did all my Genesis work with this development system before working on the XBAND modem. --Selgus
Hohoho - one sec, you wrote a firmware for the v64jr - you mean you flashed the Altera chip or wrote a monitor SW for it? do you happen to have some documentation on the v64jr altera? I am looking for some of it and only found the pieces that are over at dextrose. Specifically some information on the internal registry use of the Altera would be very helpfull.....is there hope?
RE: The U64 board I talked about on here I just wanted to let you guys know I have sent it to ASSEMbler so it could be used to generate funds to help support this site into the future. So you still have an opportunity to obtain the board, but it will probably be via eBay (or however he wishes to handle it). Thank you all for your interest in it, but I wasn't looking to profit off of the board personally. I like that this is a site for people like us (I'll let you all fill in what "us" means). --Selgus
Yes, thank you for supporting the community! Would you, or assembler, please update this thread when it is determined how the board will be sold, etc. ? Thanks.
Well the board arrived today and it was damaged in shipping. I have no idea how much force is needed to break components off a mainboard, but somehow USPS did. I can only imagine it being flung at a hard surface at a very high rate of speed. I am going to break out my rework kit fix the minor problems and put it up on ebay this weekend along with some software and controllers.
Crap! You are kidding! And here I was thinking 'no, I don't need insurance on it, what could happen on such a simple, light board?'. Let me know if it is beyond repair... I do have a second board... :banghead: --Selgus
Nah I can fix it. All the caps broke off and I just want to reheat certain traces in case of cold fracture.
Eeh man. Hope its only that. It seemed to be only that on my first board as well, but then turned out the RDP is fried.
