and And why wouldn't they? More people would have smartphones than consoles in the world and newer models are better specced than most of the consoles before 2005 as seen with HD ports of GTA. I do agree that they should port to XBOX Live / PSN and Steam and no doubt Sega will, just like all the Sonic ports on all consoles (including IOS and Android). I read that Breath of Fire 6 was going to be mobile exclusive so why not this game. I know different developers and all but it just seems to be the trend these days.
I feel like I agree, but let's look at a game like Heavy Rain, which got great critical acclaim and above average sales, and that game was purely based on QTE. BUT, I think in a perfect world, they'll continue the story on Yakuza's engine which handles QTE, action segments and little mini games very well.
Pricing and ergonomics/controls would be the greatest hindrance. The mobile market is very cut throat and with games being sold for very low prices, it would be impossible for a game like Shenmue III to make a profit seeing how it would require a substantial development budget. The reason why Sonic mobile ports have found success is because the game is simple enough to play on those devices and didn't require a lot of money to bring it to those devices. It's still a mystery whether a big budget title could ever be successful on mobile platforms. That's not to say it's impossible, just unlikely right now.
I really rather see Sega put their efforts to a new Jet Set Radio, Outrun 3, or Chu Chu Rocket.... or dare I say Crazy Taxi 4 done with Outrun 2 Drift Physics. Also hoping Sega brings Puyo Puyo Tetris here but I am importing it next month regardless.
I know this is nitpicking, but that ain't true. A lot of games in the 90's used motion capture, a very good example would be Fade To Black in 1995. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nUyc_iUva8&list=FLzw11bK3AOMYbDwE6dGjERg&index=201
man, i adore both Shenmue & Yakuza, but for very different reasons. also this, all day! XB1, whatever. VN on Ios....not ideal, but fuck it.
http://tsdr.uspto.gov/#caseNumber=75643558&caseType=SERIAL_NO&searchType=statusSearch It appears the Shenmue trademark is cancelled (in the US) due to inactivity. Not sure what this means for Sega or any attempts at Shenmue III, but I don't think people have been lining up to make knockoff Shenmue merch...
Isn't Shenmue III supposed to be crowd-sourced soon? http://www.polygon.com/2013/3/4/4061984/shenmue-3-may-see-existence-through-a-kickstarter-campaign It is second-hand, yet still reason enough for hope. I'm betting there are a TON of people who would give a decent amount of money to see Shenmue III happen
That article was published almost a year ago so it's not really relevant to this thread also the Shenmue III trademark was a fake, it wasn't filed by SEGA or any of the 3 big console companies, so can a mod please close this thread?
