Yep, in 8 months or so the missus will be bringing a mini Yakumo in to this world. To be honest I'm sort of not looking forward to it aswell as looking forward to it, if you know what I mean. Any of you guys with kids have any hints? How hard was it ? Are my days as a gamer over  Probably not but I'll have to cut down on the amount of stuff I buy.

Congratulations, Yakumo. Start him (or her) on the good stuff - the MegaDrive, the Dreamcast, and the almighty Saturn.

The other systems are okay, too, I guess :katamari:.

Years ago my sister was living with me and she had a kid at that time. Today I feel like I had one and raised him. I can tell you what got on my nerves at times. The crying in the middle of the night. That can be tough. And it's a given you'll have that for weeks and weeks. I guess newborn kids can't sleep as many hours as we do.

Anyways, after a while you think the phase had passed and you'll get some peace and quest. Wrong! That's when the teeth start to come out and it all starts over.

Not to mention kids need constant attention. When they cry, you rarely know why and all that. It's tough at the start. Then I guess you get used to it.

I don't have any kids on my own yet. That's probably because I feel like I already had one and went through all that. Oh well, there's still some time.

    Congratulations Yakumo!

P.S. - A word of warning. Kids can easily become addicted to games. And that is a major issue. A friend of mine has a son. He used to play games with him even before the kid could speak properly. The kid got so hooked on PlayStation that he would throw tantrums you've never seen if you wouldn't let him play. Every time the PlayStation was on, he was the one who HAD TO play, or it was tantrum time. Tough suff, believe me. They had to go cold turkey on him.

Nice work Yakumo-family! Although I m currently young to have one , kids are fun and noisy, use both to make a better gamer;) And remember: The kid has got to start from the basics. I know my kid won't be touching a SNES unless he finishes Smbros 1 on the NES first:p let alone an n64 and later a gamecube:p

Thanks for all the nice words guys. Yeah, I'll start him or here off on there very own famicom clone  That way it doesn't matter if it gets wrecked. Then they can move on to the good old Saturn and N64 for all of those kiddy games such as Pokemon and so on. I won't be putting up with no tantrums though. A swift kick us the arse if that starts

You're find it bloody hard work to start with...

Sleepless nights for about a year.

    ...then teething...more sleepless nights!

...Then they get to about 2 years old and things start to quieten down for then next 8 years!

So in a nutshell forget any plans for the next 2 years as you will be a busy as hell, but for all the right reasons, don't wish the time away because it will be gone as soon as it started.

...I find my son makes a perfect beta tester, kids never complain playing computer games!

A bit late on this one, Congrats man ;)

My brother has two children, they are both avid gamers thanks to me (Provided him with a PSONE and a few years ago a PS2 since they arent so well off). Whenever they come over here they want to play games but all I have is Resident Evil stuff and thats not good XD. You'll do fine!

    Congratulations!

I can just see it - 10 years down the line, u'd be the only parent in the world to refuse to let their child have a ps9....not because games are 'harmful' but because the dreamcast was sooooo.... much better. lol.
