Is this a Japan only thing? Starts on the 17th according to my post office. Can you some of you Euro people go to your post office and check? If you have would-be-EMS items waiting in Japan, you better have your buyer send them.

They must be mistaken. Even if they wanted to it would be impossible to shut down air mail to the US for any significant length of time. There is simply too much business that is done that way. They are probably talking about stopping air shipments of certain items or from certain countries. I doubt that Japan is on a list like that.

Dunno... I slammed them today. Asked them if they had their retarded monkey reading the post from the US. They seem quite sure of themselves. Other gaijin have had similar results:

It's because of the toner cartridge bombs probably.

No anime porn into the US. The terrorists have won. :flamethrower:

Something like this would be a major news story. Hell, Just the massive layoffs UPS and Fedex would have to endure alone would be major news.

Until you start seeing stories like that on the news take it with a grain of salt.

Perhaps they just mean they've stopped shipping mail on passenger flights and a Japanese person has mistakenly translated it and got the wrong end of the stick. Wouldn't be the first time.

I wonder if Japan Post is taking the new regulations the wrong way. Here is canadaPost new regulations. The size you listed seems to match up with new regulations on printer toner but not all packages.

    http://www.canadapost.ca/cpo/mc/aboutus/news/announcements/aircargo.jsf
    November 12, 2010
On November 8, 2010 the Government of Canada announced new security measures to further enhance the safety and security of Canada’s aviation system.
In addition to these measures, security procedures implemented by Canada Post’s transportation suppliers and by airlines internationally have impacted our service and delivery standards.
With these considerations in mind, and given that safety is always our paramount concern, Canada Post is advising customers of the following changes:

    • Printer toner cartridges weighing more than 453g will not be accepted for travel on aircraft within Canada or departing for international destinations. The following services must be used for shipments of this nature.
      • Within Canada: Regular Parcel, Expedited Parcel;
      • To USA: Expedited Parcel - USA, Small Packet USA – Surface;
      • To other destinations: International Parcel – Surface, Small Packet International – Surface.
    • No incoming letters or parcels originating from, or transiting through, Yemen or Somalia will be accepted into Canada. No outgoing letters or parcels will be accepted for delivery to Yemen or Somalia.
    • Items mailed to any international destination including the United States on or since November 5, 2010 may experience delays due to these additional security procedures.
The situation continues to evolve rapidly. Canada Post and its partners and suppliers are working hard on contingency plans to reduce or eliminate delays within the new security framework.
We commit to informing customers of any changes as soon as possible.

I don't know, but according to some thread somewhere on the interwebs HK has followed suit as well. I'm wondering if there were other security measures to follow and Japan, of course, said "we'll think about it".

i had to fill out some stupid invoice last week when sending qn EMS parcel to the UK. I've never had to do that before. Then again, I sent another 2 parcels to the UK this week without a problem.

Just try a smaller post office. They normally know shit about overseas mail.

All we have in the UK is this:

Aviation Security Update - Ink or toner cartridges
Following recent incidents with improvised explosive devices, the Secretary of State for Transport has issued directions prohibiting the carriage by air of ink or toner cartridges, with immediate effect.

In order to comply with this direction fully, Royal Mail is unable to fly any ink or toner cartridges over 500g through our UK or international network until further notice. We’re very sorry for the inconvenience caused by these restrictions and would advise customers that they can still post with us, but please be aware of potential delays to these items reaching their destinations.'

Well glad I live in canada then. =D

Maybe you'll have to get a proxy that can ship things to the USA via EMS now. :p

That's different. Traditionally some European countries have required a separate invoice. The computer generally denotes this. Whether or not the attendant catches it (or cares) is another story. The UK I believe is new to this process (from a few weeks ago if I'm not mistaken). I sent two packages to the UK yesterday. I had 2 people help w/ the same order. One pulled out the invoice, the other didn't. :)

This US thing is nation-wide. Hope you and Japan-Games don't have any big boxes to the US in the queue. If you do, you better get 'em out today!

Nah, I haven't sold much to people in the US for a while. They always bitch about the shipping price :p It's to be expected though. For Europe it's not so bad because the Euro and pound are stronger against the yen than the US dollar.

Ah, so this is where the thread is...heh.

It's true that Japan Post has stopped shipments to the US, but just for walk-in customers. If you have a postal contract then you can keep sending out parcels. Luckily I have that. It's the service where they come and pick up your boxes and then send you an invoice at the end of the month and you pay all at once.

I can't say I know exactly what the situation is, but my guess is that the US has put in place new security regulations that Japan Post is unable to meet. Obviously it will be temporary or else everyone will be out of business before Christmas. My guess is that they trust people with postal contracts (called "ビズ") since they have all of our information on record. At some point they'll meet whatever requirements is necessary and shipments will resume.

If anyone needs any help let me know. I can do a forwarding service for you. You can reach me directly at info@japan-games.com.

This is the email I got from eBay:

Well....if you can ship and 90% of the other eBay sellers can't ship....I suppose one would think that the US government has effectively eliminated a good portion of your competition for a while.

I still find it funny that japan is being so anal when the new regulations seem to apply to Ink Toner and not all items.
