You know what? F* this shit, free drugs for everyone! I feel so f*ing patronized by the government when it comes to drugs (and other things too, of course). Why don't I have the right to intoxicate myself with whatever i want? That should really be my own decision. IF and only IF others are harmed by my actions, i shall be punished. But otherwise, it should not concern them.

You guys can thank America for Japanese' supreme levels of idiocy on the topic. Hemp at least was legal until the occupational forces came in. The 'gaijin' problem of the whole thing is that the peddlers are quite often from the middle east. Center-gai in Shibuya was littered with Iranians selling drugs from about 1999-2004 or so. It was ridiculous. They basically fucked it up for everyone. You never heard about people getting arrested in clubs back then. Now, in Roppongi even, they will sometimes ask for a urine sample when you're on your way out the door (although it's never happened to me - I rarely go there though). My piss is clean as a whistle these days, but I would still not do it on principle alone. I don't trust "the man" in most countries - definitely not this one, and the legal system here isn't one where you can easily buy your way out.

Oh, and as for the thousandth of a gram they found in her room -- they didn't need it, nor did they need a drug test at all. They apparently ran DNA tests on a pipe to which her DNA was found.

    Other inconsistancies in the article:
Shabu Shabu is a type of meat dish. "Shabu" is speed.

Japanese people don't. The judicial system does.

And finally, the reason she's really getting caned and doesn't help her image, was that she was videoed at a psychedelic trance party DJing, dancing around like a fool. What would you think if you saw one of those Disney bitches doing that at 8AM one morning?

I'm not saying she's right or wrong (I personally couldn't give a fuck less what she does as long as she keeps it away from her kid until he's old enough to think for himself) but she's definitely a dipshit.

Unless you live in Japan or have access to the satellite news, this won't make sense.

Hey she WAS supposed to be as pure as driven snow and all.

For those that don't live in Japan it's not big news....for foreigners in Japan it's like "so fucking what!?"

So help me if I hear one more Japanese person asking me what I think of Ms. Sakai....who fucking cares. But this is Japan, any sort of illegal drug is considered the big Satan here.

yep, I couldn't give two shits what she did. I really couldn't.

That time a few months back when Kusunagi, the ONLY member of Smap who isn't a twat or loves himself I might add, got completely pissed out of his head due to stress, stripped off everything then stood in the middle of the park shouting his opinion. The Japanese media went ape over it. The poor guy was band from being on TV, all his add contracts were canceled and he was shamed in to publicly apologizing on TV (They always do that by the way). In my opinion I say give the guy a medal! So what if he stripped off and was completely drunk. Can't a man just go ape once in his life? If I had the chance to meet him I'd applauded him for what he did. So funny yet so normal for a tanked up person. Personally I wouldn't strip but still.....

yup, been away for a week or so and this whole thing has been hilarious to watch.

Famous people doing drugs ? wow, really?!

I mean, famous people must be shitting themselves because now it seems The Fuzz can turn up and ask for a urine sample and ANY usage in the last 6 months or so and you are basically screwed. Musicians must be in a constant state of fear

as someone pointed out, you could go to Amsterdam, legally do whatever is fine in that country, come back, be stopped and asked for a sample, then basically labelled a criminal - even though you haven't broken a single law.

    it's retarded.

This *should* be interesting to people outside of Japan, as it shows you how primitive the mindset can be -- especially the official one.

And I think Shingo is the only non-twat Smap member.... at least he doesn't seem to into himself, and some of his shows (at least a while back) were pretty funny.

Nah, Shingo is a big kid. I just don't find anyone who tries to be funny, funny at all. Of course that's just my opinion :)
