Been offered a brand new/sealed Limited edition bundle with black GameCube console, one controller, Metroid Prime game and Metroid Prime nameplate for console.

Is it worth it for £50?

I seem to be the only GC fan here. I'll say it's definityly worth it, if only for Nintendo's 1st party software alone.

You're not the only GC fan, Hawanja. I love my 'cube ^_^ Got it the day they started selling them in the UK...I was the first one to pick it up, lol. I am such a loser ^_^

But anyway, yeah, get that 'cube! They kick ass :)

Fun Fact - The Gamecube was released in teh UK on my Birthday :smt023

I've wanted one for a while. There's a local pawn shop that sells them for $50. I wanted a PSTwo more, but I'm concerned that Sony may have fucked up again. Are Gamecubes reliable?

Ninty hardware is always good hardware, in my opinion. Never heard of N64 or Snes or Cube crapping out. GBA is generally good, too.

Maybe because they've been stigmatised as kiddy systems (they aren't but then again... ) and so, they're built strong to tolerate abuse.
Maybe they're just high quality products, as opposed to PS2.

50 quid! That's bloody cheap compared to the usual rip-off prices where I live :smt067

Oddly enough, I own a GC but it's my least-played console.

How difficult to do is the import switch? I'd rather pay $4 for a switch and some wire than $25 for a disc you have to swap(I want to be the first in my city to have Resident Evil 4 :smt082 )

You're not the only one. I am a big GC fan as well. Infact, the GC is my favorite of the current gen.

Yes, I would say the GC is well worth it.

I actually have a Gamecube that breaks regularly (Yeah, I have two 'cubes). It used to belong to a friend of mine....but once it crapped out he just gave it to me...Basically, the lens got de-calibrated.

I got a guide for fixing it from Gamefaqs and sorted it :) Though if I use it for too long (6+ hours solid, lol. I am that sad :-D ) it decalibrates.

Apparently this also can sort the DRE that are common on some 'cubes with certain games.

  12. Definately get it, it's really a fun system, although you will be constantly frustrated at decisions Nintendo makes, like not sending games over here (Giftpia) or removing the digital out port on the latest GC revision. They hate gamers.

And the region mod switch is really easy, you honestly solder two wires to a point on the mainboard and hook them to a switch. The downside? The soldering points are damned tiny and you need thin wires and a steady hand. I have a PDF somewhere that explains the mod in step-by-step.

Metroid is a fantastic game, you will not be sorry you bought it, plus you can't go wrong with that awesome Metroid nameplate that you blokes over the pond got but we didn't. (Why? Because Nintendo hates gamers.)

All in all, it's a great investment.

Short Answer: Hell Yes you should get it.

Long Anser: Hell yes you should get it. It's one of my favorite systems ever. Why? It has all of the cool games made by Nintendo. And it gets a whole lot of other great games too. My personal favorites are Mario Kart: Double Dash and F-Zero GX. Theres so many great games to list.

Ditto. I wasn't planning on getting one a year ago, but my friend gave man offer I couldn't refuse: His gamecube with 2 controllers and 2 games(Smash Brothers Melee, and Rouge Squadron 2) all for $30. It actually has a lot of good games that I somehow missed when I didn't own a cube, but now that I have one I realize what a great bunch of games I was missing out on.

  18. Yeah, you've got Tales Of Symphonia (GREAT game), Metroid Prime, Animal Crossing, Rogue Leader, Skies Of Arcadia Legend, Viewtiful Joe, Zelda The Four Swords, Custom Robo, Eternal Darkness, WarioWare, Ikaruga, and scores of other great games as well.

I wouldn't recommend Wind Waker if you're remotely a classic Zelda fan, but if you liked the mediocre N64 offerings, then you might enjoy it. I sure didn't tho, so be forewarned.

The question you should be asking yourself is "Why haven't I gotten a Gamecube yet?"

    Now that's the truth.

And one of the biggest pro's of a gamecube is that you don't need modchips or any of that crap to play imports.
Just het a datel freeloader and presto you can play any region game :smt023
