I live in the UK and after hearing a hell of a lot mixed reviews on the ps3 i've had second thoughts to if i chould get one or not. I was hoping someone on hear who has one can tell me if shelling out that kinda cash is a good move. Btw i have an xbox 360 and is it much better?

letting aside quality of materials, xbox 360 is a better platform for games and entertainment at the moment.

Buy a Ps3 when they re so desperate that they ll throw the price down the stairs.

Just think to yourself what can the Ps3 do for you? Not much is the answer that comes to mind.... unless u want to cure parkinson's disease, then sure, get one;)

Depends what you wish to play. I personaly love my ps3 along with my 360. If you've got an HD set and like movies then blu-ray in the ps3 might be worth something to you.

For games it's a mix bag but I am totaly loving VF 5, Tekken DR & Motorstorm.

While Ps3 in no way is a better console then the 360 (at the current time), It's still a pretty damn good system and atleast not as noisy as the 360.

Unless you are very bored, I recommend holding off on the PS3 till a price drop. The price should fall and by then enough games will actually be out that you might want to play. Buying now just means you pay alot of money and have less to play.

To be honest, unless you're wanting a particular game for the PS3 that is not available for the 360, or can't wait for a 360 release, then save your money. That way, when you do find a game you think is worth buying the console for, you'll still have the console PLUS you'll have the interest on your £425! Brilliant.

Also, the price may have crashed and they're hardly going to disappear. That's good too, right?

On a side note: Yay! I've been upgraded to 'Member' status now! :)

    I`m with the MOOSE here!!

Probably "motorstorm" but at £425 + game.....a lot for just the 1

Keep investing in some serious 360 games, by the time you blow you £470+ the PS3 will have come down (can`t see it being this price for long as stock is everywhere) and then some games really worth getting!

Or another generation console will have been announced ;-)

PS Welcome and congrats on the "member" status as well

Good luck on your first 100 posts!

If you have a lot of US / JP PS2 and PS1 games that you have to play on one console then it might be worth considering buying an import now before they remove some chips add an 80gb hdd and pretend it's the same machine and charge the same price for something that's cost them less. I bought a PS3 as it had a number of games I wanted to play now and I couldn' wait.

I'd wait for the inevitable price drop and increased games library myself.

well there's not much heading to the PS3 that isn't also going to the 360. Dead rising and Lost Planet are going to stay 360 exclusuive.

First party is what it boils down to now.

PS3 is getting God of War 3 and Ratchet and Clank something as well as Hevenly sword and it already has Resistance fall of man (though the 360 has a billion other FPSes)

360 is getting Banjo Kazooie 3, Halo 3 (duh), Too Human, Fable 2, Forza 2 among others.

your pick what 1st party games sound best to you?

Also....your power bill.....the PS3 will add $40-200 more to your bill a year

Ive had a PS3 since US release, and I have hardly played the games. But I do use it as a Blu Ray player (I now actually have another 20GB version for my bedroom).

IF you want to play games only - I'd stick with the 360 - MUCH more fun.

If you want to play HD films, then I would seriously look at the PS3 looks fantastic and the quality of games and on-line content will increase in the future so i'm set.

Also the PS3 is being sold for £399 here in the UK now (WHSMITH and Play.com with HDMI cable and click) - Still way to expensive compared to NTSC versions!

How much are JPN and US Systems going for now? retail?

As half of the guys here told ya, you better wait until the price drops, cuz right now theres no good reason to pay $600 for a PS3.

I wouldnt get a X360 either since those are falling apart too easily, plus the 65nm version is just around the corner...

PS3 is the first budget blu-ray player.
By the way, it can also play games.

Not unless you want a cheap Blu-ray Disc player (and if you're doing that, get a Japanese or American one). That's why I have one.

It really sucks that UK gamers got shafted on the backwards compatibility, and that was the main reason I bought a PS3. In your case, no, I would wait for games to come out for it.
