Well anyways my computer can't run videos well(can't even run 240p) ive updated my graphics card drivers and all but still lags in video playback so im deciding to get a portable media player (from china, i know its 3rd party and cheap but still im ok with it) here is the media player itself http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.28853 im also getting http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.9813 so i can hook it up to my moniter and also getting http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.15529 so i can switch between both and getting an extra vga cable so that sums 46$ Im asking if theres and other ones that are better and cost little upper this price like 35-30$. so if you know any other good ones drop a message here.
strange, even my celeron 500 MHz 128 MB ram on win xp (yeah you read right :lol play all my divX flawlessly with VLC.
This won't work. The RCA to VGA cable is just a cable, not a converter, so your monitor won't know what to do with the composite signal. If you'd bothered to read any of the reviews you'd know this already. There is no simple way to convert composite to VGA. If you ever see anything that looks like it might, but doesn't require a power source, then it won't do the job, it's as simple as that. Also this idea is beyond daft from the start. You have a computer, fix it for fuck's sake.
It sounds to me like you've messed something up with your PC. A 2GHz PC should be able to play 720p videos. My laptop that I'm using while not at home is only a 1.5Ghz with 512MB of ram yet it can play 720p videos just fine even in full screen with subtitles and surround sound. I suggest you clean up your PC. Use some registry cleaners or better still format the hard drive and re-install everything from scratch. Yakumo
And I'll bet you're not running Vista on it, Yakumo. 1Gb RAM with VISTA isn't that much - upgrade it. And yes, run your antivirus and antispyware software.
VISTA? No way. I'm using XP Pro edition on the laptop and home PC which runs at 2.9Ghz. When I buy a new PC I'll get windows 7
agreed. I´ve got even less power (900 mhz, a 32 mb 3D!!! Graphic chipset,512 mb RAM) and even my PC is able to run up to 720p (didnt try 1080p, yet) with VLC
All I can say is I have Windows 7 Intel Pentium 4 2.60 GHz 3 Gigs of Ram Radeon 9600 And 720p - 1080p videos run like shit. They all stutter/lag. 420p and lower run like butter however.
My personal specs: Windows 7 x86 Intel dual core cpu (not sure of complete name) @ 2.77ghz 4gigs of ram (1gig is useless cuz of x86) Onboard GFX And it runs even 1080p great. But seriously clean up your computer. I have a old (early 2000's) P3 computer and that can run 720p with like 512mb of ram
Intel Atom 1.6 with 2GB RAM, Intel GMA950 running OSX 10.6.3 and I can watch 1080p with only the tiniest bit of lag and stuttering.
Check your PC with Spybot, install "Combined Community Codec Pack" or VLC (I recommend the latter), and update your drivers. This should definitely help.
Also worth a shot: Try disabling your AV (just remember to turn it back on), defraggers and whatever else might be unneccesarily running, including background services, then try playing a video again - Maybe it's just something else (not necessarily malware) hogging the CPU or slowing down HD accesses.
Defragging won't make any difference. Just man up and reinstall your OS. Irrespective of which flavour of Windows it came with you should be able to run HD movies with that spec.
