Should people sell their ps3 before it's worthless?

No. Come on, it's only just launched and the brand name alone is strong enough to shift a bunch of units. There'll be games worth playing eventually.

The real question is, is it worth buying now, and for me it certainly isn't.

 

You never know what awesomeness could come out for it. I kind of wanted to scope out a 20GB for cheap on sale, but it never happened.

 

Why? I remember nothing worth playing for the first year on my 360. Hell right now I still dont think there is anything that interesting thats worth more then 10 mins on the wii.

Right now, what has generated alot of interest in the ps3 for me is finding a way to bypass the credit card lock out on the PSN. I just recently started buying ps1 games off the jpn PSN network. Gunner Heaven + Mr. Driller for $10 is a freaking atm.

I d love to own a PS3, not for the games though. It's a nice piece of kit to tinker with imo - i have other gaming priorities though, the likes of motorstorm don't excitetruck me if you know what i mean

 

No you shouldn't sell it because the PS3 still has quite a few exclusive titles left like MGS 4, FF13, LAIR, Warhawk, HOME etc. Also we still can't be sure what the next firmwire updates will bring so no one should get rid of it yet

MGS4 is coming to 360

Square hasn't said it's being worked on but I'm positive FFXIII is heading to 360 they keep contradicting themselves though (it's not exclusive, it is, no wiat it isn't, We're not working on anything but we'll see........)

 

At this point, no. I use my PS3 in the living room for DVDs, Playstation and PS2 games, and as a image viewer. I wouldn't seriously look at it unless it starts to go dry later on like the GCN did. At this point, it has potential (FFXIII, MGS4, Ninja Gaiden Sigma coming out in a few weeks, Home, etc).

However, I will say that the quality of the 360 to PS3 ports is shit most of the time. Doesn't help that the PS3 doesn't have a achievement system until Home comes out later this year.

yeah that's realy what I'm feeling too. For now I don't realy want it for gaming but for things like the possibility to run linux on it. Thought I will most likely use it lots for gaming too, as soon as all the titles I'm waiting for comes out (like any FF game (yeah I'm a sucker for FF games ), MGS4 and RE5)
Thought I do actually own both the new James Bond movie in blu-ray and Motorstorm - got em' for free some month back!!

 

My god I knew this would be coming. Let me just make it short and sweet FF13 is not coming to the xbox 360 because like already stated before there are no plans for any kind of FF on the 360 and also it would take year/s to port or even make a new FF game so if theres no plans yet don't get your hopes up. MGS4 is just not coming to the 360 full stop. Kojima even said that everything MGS4 has grown to become is all on PS3 hardware and is made just for PS3 hardware.

Worthless is a wild claim. The only thing the console is lacking currently is a decent game line up. If history repeats itself the way the PS1 and PS2 developed then I'd say hold on to your PS3 now.

Or perhaps sell it to me for a decent discount :lol:

 

It's probably going to become no more wothless than the Wii is... sorry "will" At the end of the day, you aint going to get back what you paid for it, it's not an "investment" like it was back in the NeoGeo day's.

It will have some killer apps, people will buy it, then something new will come out in a few years, people will get bored of it, and we will be having the same discussion again.

I could have made the same post about the Wii, seriously why is it selling so well with barely anything worth playing on it? are there 5.6million people just sat around playing Wii Sports all day? oh sorry I forgot, you aren't allowed to generalise when it comes to Nintendo... Glory be, hallelujah, lets play Cooking Mama and pretend it's the cutting edge of entertainment.

 

Haha, harsh but true. The whole gaming market is a bit stale at present, come on Nintendo/Sony/Microsoft, prove to us why we are investing in your hardware and make us glad that we have!

 

Why are so many people against the PS3? It does a fine job of keeping me occupied when there's not much else to do.

 

If you brought it purely to ebay it for obscene profit, then yes - it's (long past) the time to sell.

If you brought it to use for playing games & watching BluRay discs, then no - don't think so.

Frankly, I find this kind of discussion a bit daft. The PS3 is a consumer electronics device. It's not an investment. Even the rabid collector part of me doesn't buy stuff like this to be an investment - I brought it to play games & watch BluRay movies. Even if they stopped making the thing tomorrow, I'd still be using it for that.

 

I think if I had a PS3 right now I may consider selling it off and re-buying it later down the line when it offers a richer software library, at present the only game that itnerests me is Motorstorm (and maybe Resistance). Of course if I had a HDTV then I'd definitely keep it for some Blu-Ray goodness.

Kojima said that there wouldn't be a re-release of MGS3 and, well...Subsitence..yeah. Also, Resident Evil 4 was crafted just for the Gamecube hardware and that still wound up on PS2, ultimately it's not up to Kojima anyway but Konami. :nod:
