Glad to see changes as well, life's keeping me very very busy right now, I'd love to help but I won't be able to do so past sharing some ideas and feedback.

What I do strongly suggest, as I always do every time a thread like this comes up, is that you need to get more people to help you and not try to do a one man band. Don't want to sound discouraging but I've seen this thread lots of times, and the reason you never get to implement all the changes you want in time or even at all is because you try to do everything alone (despite going to the community for feedback). The only way to put in all the changes and improvements you, we and everyone else want, is by having more people contribute. There are a lot of skilled web developers and graphic designers around here that I'm sure, if they have the spare time, are more than willing to help out.

Just have an organized plan, structure, and a good way to keep track of everything. Gather a small team, get a workspace on Assembla, put up the code there on a private repo, have the team work on it, keep track with the ticketing tools, and you can take care of deployment as things get done.

Set short term achievable milestones for changes in the site and take no more than a few at a time, and iterate.

As for the site's theme, there was a nice one I found long ago that I sent you over by PM, but I can't remember the name now, will dig that up and post it here, it was only $25 I think, had 4 or 5 preset colors, and was responsive.

    Cheers,
