1. Site will move to new dedicated server that is newer and cheaper. 2. New layout and site content unrelated to message board. 3. More user contributions and free subdomains. 4. Return of the FTP. 5. Advertisement will be carefully sold / or added to the site to cover the expected $1000 site costs I will be reviewing the "make the site fun" thread as well for other changes.

I'm glad to see you've decided to put ads on the site, I don't know how you got by so long without them. With the amount of traffic you get it will pay your costs and then some, fur sure.

Looking forward to the new look. Just a shame we have to go with adds rather than everyone here paying a $5 members fee. I mean, $5 is nothing. I spend that on my breakfast every morning on the way to work. Yakumo
I don't know, a small ad in the bottom of every page wouldn't be that annoying. I mean, who does ever look for something down there? Anyway, I think that if the site keeps being free of popups and ads between posts (the two most annoying things you can find in a forum IMO) it'll be ok, otherwise the members fee idea doesn't dound bad at all...
I get your point, I'm making a site and was thinking about something like that, but the thing is that online ads are pretty big right now, and no website out there that isnt professional (like a business site owned by Fortune) asks for a fee these days. Why? because it scares away new users, users that when looking at ads generate revenue for the site.
