I couldn't read the rest of the replies in this thread over the SOUND OF HOW AWESOME THE ORIGINAL POST IS.
Would it be possible to just provide a donation or something to you to cover some of the cost. Obviously not the $1000 but I could do something like $20-50 just to help some, I always block ads so it seems like I would be denying your money and I like browsing here...sometimes it is all I have to do all day at work..:icon_bigg
ASSEMbler mentioned previously that its not a problem to get donations from some forum members, but the problem is that it is the same forum members contributing every time. By introducing even some limited form of advertising (even of a trial basis) then all members are affected equally. Some members may find ways to block the ads from showing up but the majority of members would then be contributing. Also, having ads placed in the forum the most continual form of revenue. I'm sure many of us would be willing to contribute donations to the forum but often times thats a one-time deal. You'll get a lump-sum of cash to play with but it'll quickly run out and you'll have to do a little prodding to get more, and again - it'll be the same people donating. If placing ads here allows us to have all the great features that are planned, I say that the trade off is extremely in our favour.
I'm getting ads on my upcoming site, basically because the more you use it the more you're helping to pay the hosting. Is a win-win situation really.
Don't forget you can always turn off an adblocker for specific sites. It's not THAT bad to suffer a few ads to help Kev out. Just please don't get huge intrusive ads ok?
in many Forums I see ads just for the unregistered people which are gone once you log in. Assemblergames right now: Currently Active Users: 803 (78 members and 725 guests) Maybe that could help That also helps getting peope to register. As long as you want that.
Those were supposed to happen years ago. I remember I wanted an ASSEMblergames subdomain for my site, before I actually launched it.
I have a linux admin and a vbb person. I won't start until next week as I have weddings to deal with...
Yes. Sometimes people decide to stay with each other forever, and they have a ceremony. Crazy I know. They also demand fucking expensive gifts, necessitate the purchase of expensive suits and shoes used but once, and eat up every free moment of time for a month as there is "engagement party" "Bachelor/ette party" "Practice ceremony" "Wedding" where one is bled white finanacially.
Pfft. All my wife and I had (by choice) was a casual family dinner the night before the wedding and a small 15 minute ceremony. No "pre" anything. Nice, quick and cheap for all involved. Well, except for the one who paid for the Disney World trip as a gift...
It's the usual stuff around here, only a few people make big weddings in churches (in fact there's not a lot of people that go often to church or have a determinated religion here). Most of the people makes just a dinner with family and friends or if they want to make something big they make a big wedding party, but like mairsil said, no pre anything. Come on, is a practice ceremony really necessary?
The only thing you need to say, is "I do" why all the fuzz ? heck my sister and my brother in law, didn´t even have to say yes, or I do. They heard the marriage person say something, and then they signed the papers. And I photographed a lot. And that was the quickest wedding I have been to. And then it was a sweet family dinner at my sister, and brother in laws apartment. And it wasn´t at a church, they got married.
