I found a small xbox controller with a light green logo. Like the dakota, but it is one of the later small ones...

    Is It worth anything?

They are originally from the Japanese Xbox, but were later bundled in Australia and also sold as a limited edition in the US. You may get a few dollars more for it if advertised right, but it isn't a prototype or anything.

They were a bit grey too, iirc. I'll go dig mine up now

Hmm the one I found is black. Pretty sure I have a few greyish ones somewhere...

whitrzac, do you have a picture? I might be interested. I'd have to see it though.

I found one of those randomly at a thrift store, the label on the back also identifies it as a standard XBox controller rather than a Controller S but I have no reason to believe mine is anything but a limited pack in.

Same store I found the prototype 1.6 and Alamo controller no less.

Well the Japanese controllers were from before there was such thing as a "Controller S" so its not surprise.

    Thanks for the info.

I ended up not buying it... Not worth the time to make $10 off it...

Which is exactly why I thought it may have been a Japanese controller at first and it still could be. On top of the Alamo I've also found my sole PAL Dreamcast controller at the same thrift store. Almost like there is some sort of quantum singularity pulling unusual items to this one thrift store.

Well they sold the Japanese controller in the USA as a limited edition set. I never got a real firm grasp of when they were released though. I picked mine up on clearance at Best Buy sometime in 2002, after the Controller S had been released.

    Oh really?

I remember seeing one at Gamestop years ago. I knew what it was, but unfortunately it was extremely well used so I left it on the shelf.

Does anybody remember the retail packaging on the limited edition? I remember the product but not how it was packed.

My game docket for next month is pretty much all Xbox. I can't for the life of me find either of my S-Controllers so I browsed ebay today and copped these. It's more than I wanted to spend for controllers. However, since they are clamshelled and really nice I would say they were a good grab.

I have no idea if these are limited editions or units from the Japanese market.

It's called the "Beast entertainment pack" with Midtown Madness 3 and Brute Force.

Thanks for the info guys. Maybe these are Japan units. It's more of a box than a hang card. I'll get some pics up for reference. A nice surprise is that one of them is actually new and unopened.
