Smaller rank images?

He is speaking about medals figuratively. Forums reward participation to foster and maintain a community.

that said, when it comes to highlighting a user above the rest, is where i draw the line.
coloured names are good, users have to refer to a key to understand them. generally, they can't be arsed, ergo: everybody is the same on approach. (BCG has that, and class as titles/sentiment was eliminated when it was discovered the DAMAGE to new users it was causing...and some old blood who voiced change was required. oh, they KILLED the 'reputation/karma' system because of the abuse which was a GIVEN with enough time)

on the subject of content/intellect, it's the usable value the counts, even if the 'OP' is a tool and detestable in all ways. (such is the way of smarts. the more they absorb, the more morally superior the come across and IMPOSE their wills. a LOT of devs are guilty there, including HW hackers. can't say it's much of issue if i learned something, i stay quiet. if they're cool, they get +thanks in word)

 

Postcount levels are not rewards, they are incentives to make more short, useless shit posts to get a higher rank.

 

Ban the ones who game the system. Loyal members who return for years tend to be the ones with high post count and they deserve a small reward.

 

The rank system sometimes throws me off as to which member is posting. The Avatar should be the most prominent image at each Reply. There should also be a limit size on all the images, so much empty space between Replies due to all the large images. One has to page down to scroll down the blank spots in order get to the next Reply. Some posts actually display a blank on the entire screen due to so many large "medal" images obtained on the left!

Perhaps get rid of the post count images and just use bold faced font? The post count alone obviously shows how active a Member is. For me it is not the total post count that has any importance, but what each post contains. Every Member new and long term has good stuff to share maybe focus on that? Even My Reply with my small Avatar has a lot of blank space below, and this Reply is more then a couple of sentences.
