I was stating its Nintendo roots, not out to list every MSG game brought to a Nintendo system.

Changed for Barc0de... though if he knows so much about the series, why is he confused as to why Snake is a character in Smash Brothers...

    the roots were MSX ;)

the NES version was a port, and the official sequel to MG1 was on the MSX. The NES "sequel" was not by Kojima anyway, and isnt considered part of the original story. This info can also be found in MGS:Twin Snakes where it gives a background on the games ^_^

I've always hoped for Sonic to be in a Smash Bros. so I could live out the dream of Mario and Sonic duking it out on my TV screen.

Solid Snake is a bit out there for a guest character. There's got to be something behind this.

nintendo was out of Nintendo-Only alternatives. They used what they could (wario, kid icarus), tried to scrambled for a few more (zero suit samus), and are now finally allowing 3rd party characters (Snake).

from the latest news it seems that Kojima "begged" to include an MGS character. Let's hope Naka "begs" too then, if that's how they want to present it ;)

The control style that is going to be used is not the free-hand style at all.In fact the designer of the game says that we should not "throw away our GameCube controllers just yet". This leads me to believe that perhaps the new "retro" controller of the Wii won't be packed in?

The retro controller, surely doesn't look as comfortable as the gamecube one (to me, because it lacks "grip-pipes") but it would make more sense to use an accessory like that. Imagine someone who gets the new Smash Bros and didn't previously own a gamecube. It could end up being confusing.

I was reading an article this morning that Sega have been approached to have Sonic included along with Tails.

Also the head developer at Clover Studios wants Viewtiful Joe added as well.

Zero Suit Samus? Kinda lame. It was good to see Metaknight and Wario, I just wished they would actually show Wario fighting...

Screw that. How about we just convince Squeenix to make their own brawler with characters from all the FF games. I mean, who wouldn't want to play as Bahamut and unleash a MegaFlare on one of those damn moogles?

    Ouendan
    Tom Nook
    Diddy Kong
    Pikmin

Hopefully we'll see those too. ;)
I am looking really forward to playing this title, seems like they're really going for the same amount of polish as Melee. :)
