I bought this adapter that i thought was a passthrough adapter in a lot from ebay, it didnt work and the screws were missing from the back so i opened it up and there is this strange chip and wiring that i have never seen before. Has someone tried some sort of cic mod and can i get it working?
Just to confirm the point of these passthrough adapters, so you don't have to break tabs on a US Snes and play Super Famicom games? It could be a CIC mod, although from memory on the cart it's 6 wires, 7th optional for LED Let's see what people who know what they are talking about have to say about the Honey Bee
My guess is that it's a home made hirom mapper. The early SNES copiers didn't support hirom mode, so to run hirom games you had to remap the hirom memory space to the lorom addresses that the copier hardware would respond to. It's certainly not a CIC mod - the wires are in the wrong places.
Yes the passthrough allows jap games on a us console without breaking the tabs and us games to play on sfc without the need to widen the cart slot.
Hi Trimesh thanks for the info. After alot of cleaning ive got it to work as a passthrough. What you say sounds plausible so thanks
