I just stumbled on this site that claims it has plug in play snes component cables. http://www.hdretrovision.com/snes/ Also has sega one's as well. I very familiar with the snes component mod but they don't go into anything technical regarding the cable. You guys have any ideas.
I'm working on a similar design myself, basically there is a circuit board at the end where the cable splits into the rca outputs.
A pretty neat Idea. I was contemplating building a Component converter using Ace schematics as my next project. As I was not satisfied at all with the Scart Component converter I got from ebay. It sucks.. But making a single converter for all consoles could be annoying as you might need to tweak it differently every time you switch console. I was also reluctant to build it inside the consoles. I had not thought of building the circuit inside the AV cables, I like it.
Thanks for the info guys. Man that converter is small to fit in the component cable, anyone have a schematic, would love to build one.

Cool idea but I barely see a difference between the two. My 1CHIP on my PVM (RGB) vs my Trinitron (composite) is night and day.
I felt the same way. On my component modded super fami it looks a lot better than what I saw on that site.
