The early SHVC-CPU-01? Nope sorry. I wonder if removing the RF module would have an impact, hmmm.

Interesting, it did not work on mine. Maybe a parameters of the caps is related to this. I recall someone on this thread said that at first the fix did not work for him then he tried a different brand of cap and then it worked.
Also, there are at least two kinds of SHVC. One has a big cap on the DC input and the other one does not. There may be other differences between the two.

After installing my supercic, (which was extremely tiresome) I found I had some 220 uf 10v caps so I put those on both the video chip and 7805 and I got a black screen, I am much to tired to figure out wth I am doing wrong so for the time being I have taken the caps off since my snes works perfectly with out them. On a side note the supercic is very nifty even though I don't own any pal games.

The ''black screen'' you describe can happens if you put too much extra capacitance in the 5v rail. However in my experience it takes more than two 220 uf caps.
It only does it on cold starts though, which means that pressing reset when it is in such a ''black screen'' state will have the game boot properly.

Otherwise the explanation would be that the caps were not installed properly or on the right spots.

Update: I redid the mod, and I found out what the problem was, would you believe it was a dirty cartridge port? I soaked my cartridge Port In alcohol and put it back together with my official copy of earthbound and I didn't see any white line through component, (hadn't tested rgb but it should be fine). I figured it out that it was the cartridge port because even though I wasn't getting video I should have been getting audio and I wasn't.

Thanks so much max war for figuring out this mod.

Glad it seems to work good for you guys with SHVC snes! I guess mine was the exception or I used a bad cap or something. It did have an affect but it was minor. I will try it again on a different SHVC

has anyone used this method to reduce the general noise that a xrgb mini seems to produce?

im using a snes mini with a rgb mod and after striping down the mod a few times i looked up the problem, turns out it a known issue with the xrgb.
so far setting A/D to 131 and tweaking other visual settings helped but you know, one you see noise you cant ignore it.

I recently done the fix on my 1chip to remove a vertical white line , I could see it on the first dark screen in Mortal Kombat 1 , but with the orginal cartridge only.
With the game under my SD2snes nothing appeared , certainly because the sd2snes drains more power , now with the fix , i get the same result with SD2snes and the original cartridges.

I have *zero* experience or skills with electronics. Is there anyone here that lives in Los Angeles or in the Southbay in between LA and Long Beach that I could meet up with that could install the right caps in my Super Famicom? (SHVC-001 model)
I'm Alan Van Dalsem on Facebook, please message me?
