Personally no. Used to collect comics but hardly unusual.

The old man collects cinema stuff though, from projectors to signs, books to film reels. Our garage has been converted into a cinema with 2 projectors in the projection room, and an 11 seat auditorium for viewing pleasure. I should also add that, save the films and books etc it is all primarily original 1930's equipment, from the signs to the projectors (and it all had been restored by the old man to look as new as the day it was made). Awesome. Incredible would be a better word tbh.

He also has enough parts and pieces (spread out over 2 sheds, 1 bedroom and a loft conversion, to make at least 4 more complete 30's projectors and is currently negotiating with the mother about converting my sis's old room into a second cinema..this time with the projectors pointing into the garden for quality summertime evening performances.

Oh, and don't forget the 300+ movies he has on 35mm either..not a mean feat when you consider the size (and weight) of one reel, and that most movies are at least 4 reels..most 5-7! (Some are nitrate film though so they stay in a shed as they are highly inflammable)

And then the folks together like a lot of the 1930's/art deco stuff too (our house was made in 1928 so we have a few period rooms you see). This stuff includes radio's, radiograms, furniture, decorative plates (£300+ each times 80 or so..nice inheritance), pots, ornaments, phones (god I love the candlestick style), vases, Charlotte Reed (anything) etc. My favourite are 2 30's cigarette lighters..one is a silver sundial that you fill with fuel, take out the dial bit and strike on the strip, the other is a silver figurine of a nude woman. Lovely style, something this age lacks I feel.

A family of collectors it seems.

I have an Action figure of Ultimate weapon and one of Bahamut from FF8, other than that the unusual parts of my collection usually come boxed in with whatever Working Designs set I get.

No, I can have as many as I want, I don't live with my parents (even if I did though my mother doesn't care and my father is deceased). but I limit myself to 500 to keep the 'quality-over-quantity' thing going.

well I don't have to worry about my old man and mom fuss over what I spend but missus does and since she has the control over our finance I only get small allowance to spend per month... I wonder sometimes what's the difference - I used to get a small allowance from mom and now from missus and still get hassled over the stuff I bought... :p
But then come to think of mom used to hassle dad over his collection - camera/video camera and stuff...

About the only thing I actively buy and collect nowadays are issues of Arcadia Magazine.
Nothing out of the ordinary, though not very common for US gamers.
