    I'm back from the dead.

I decided to clear out my collection, get rid of the redundancies and stuff I'm not playing. I don't currently have a working PS2 and I realized I have more Japanese imports than American games. So I'm selling off the American stuff and got an SCPH-50000 phat Japanese PS2 direct from Japan with a few games 3 of them Cave Shmups.

Mostly for exclusives, Sega Ages and the better Simple 2000 games.

Having a Japanese PS2 is there anything I should know?

    Framemiester settings

    Games nobody talks about?

One thing to watch out for is that if you have set up your video processor on a US console you will likely get significant black crush when connecting a Japanese PS2 because the Japanese units have black at zero rather than the 7.5IRE that US spec NTSC uses. In theory, this shouldn't affect RGB, but I seem to remember that the US PS2 has that 7.5IRE offset on the RGB outputs, too.

My us slim died long before I got my Framemiester.

I'm connecting it to my Framemiester using a Component to Dterminal converter and the best cables I could find. I have a Monster cable from my Slim

OK, the setup level on that sort of YPbPr analog composite should be 0IRE both on US and Japanese spec equipment, so nothing to worry about (although some early DVD players got it wrong...).

Battle Gear 2 and 3 are both worth owning, I think. Initial D Special Stage is good as well.

    Racing games are a must.

What about Simple 2000? They seem to range from hidden gem to complete and utter crap.

I've been playing InitialD recently - it's a pretty fun game. I can't get the force feedback to work at the moment, though, which is a bit irritating.

I saw a few shared Shmups with Dreamcast are cheaper.

I got every cave Shmup that isn't Ibara with my System.

Special Stage is pretty close to Ver. 2, though it's been a while since I've played Ver. 2. Lately I've been playing Initial D 8, and I really enjoy that game. It's pretty different as far as gameplay compared to the earlier ones, but still fun.

I have the Initial D on PS3 that's like, icey road at all times.

I assume it's better in special stage?

    Yeah, I was talking about 8 - 1, 2 and 3 are Naomi 2, 4 and 5 are Lindbergh and 6 and 7 are RingEdge.

I've got the Naomi2 setup, a Chihiro, a Triforce and a Lindbergh yellow (although the Lindbergh has a bad HDD and I need to fix it), but I never got into the Ringedge/wide stuff. Honestly, trying to get this stuff working just sucks up way too much time anyway.

I’ve been playing 8 on my PC with Teknoparrot. All of the ones from 4 until 8 can be played with Teknoparrot. With 8 it’s even possible to play it at higher resolutions. Zero is the only recent one that isn’t supported.

Speaking of Sega arcade systems, the only ones I have are the ST-V and the Model 3. I also have an MVS.

How well does it work? And can you hook up the original arcade controls to it? That might be easier than trying to get the original hardware working...

It works pretty well. Not all games run perfectly; some Lindbergh games have issues with the sound, for example. Some games run really well though, and not just the Initial D games. Theoretically you should be able to use arcade controls, as long as you have an adapter to connect them to your PC. I think Teknoparrot supports XInput and DirectInput, so your controls need to support one of those. Personally, I use a 360 controller.

First of all FUCK COMPONENT. I tired for 3 hours, 3 HOURS to get a complete picture, I tested cables, other systems, everything and could not get a clear component signal out of my system. But I finally did, and I even brought my Non HDMI 360 out to play to see how long before it dies.

Anyways, I the system came today, I had to sign for it and all that, It's a translucent black. Was translucent black the default color on all Phat PS2s or just the Japanese? It's an SCPH-5000
