    Hey there,

So I was lucky enough to order a Phoebe from the official maker. Now while I do have a White Saturn, I have no intentions of opening it to see if it's compatible. Just like my original Dreamcast, my Saturn runs perfectly well, so I'll just buy another one to install my Phoebe board into it, preferably one with a broken CD-ROM drive.

Thing is, I only purchased a Phoebe Type 2 board, so I'd like to know any tips you guys may have to not only find a Japanese Saturn with a 21-pin cable, but one that could work with a Type-2 Phoebe board so that I would have no modifications to do.

I'll would prefer getting a gray Saturn, but I'll take another White one if the odds are better.

    Thank you

    From the official website:
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Type-2: VA2-VA5 (21-pin cable, 64-pin MCU)
    ODE: Phoebe
    CD-ROM drives:
    JVC ENR-011A
NOTE: Type-2 comes as “Model 1” (oval buttons, ACCESS LED) and “Model 2” (round buttons, no LED).
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well my main concern is about not landing on a 20-pin cable model. Are the models you mentioned 20 or 21-pins ones? If so, what month/year/model # should I bee on the lookout for?

The changeover to the 21 pin drives happened before the change to the white case. Hence all white (and skeleton) Japanese Saturns have 21 pin drives.

The older grey cased Japanese machines may have either a 20 or 21 pin drive.

Guess my luck would increase with a white one then, thanks.

EDIT: Made an offer on a loose White Saturn for $20 + shipping, the offer was accepted.
