Doing so knowing that Generations is a very short game (assuming Egg Dragoon isn't a pain in the ass for you) As I quoted to a friend of mine "imigine controling sonic....and he's on a slippery floor of butter and oil and greese and lube that's what playing 06 is like" Now going back to Sonic Unleashed? Besides the fact it has a Fixed Camera most of the time I'm actually having fun with it. That includes the Warehog stages. The thing with Unleashed is I think if it wasn't a Sonic game it would have been thought of as being a better game than it is. So when we look at what we call the fall of sonic it's only really 2 HORRIBLE games (I havent played the wii games yet) that tarnished Sonic's name. Maybe 3 or 4 I forgot about Sonic Riders
Druid...we will never agree on anything ever, but that's ok. I like Adventure although the stages not involving Sonic haven't aged well. Adventure 2 is awesome all around. And take away the nostolga goggles on Generations and...You still have a fucking awesome sonic game.
Sonic The Hedgehog 2 is the best of the Sonic series, and I am sure many would agree. Surprisingly my next favorite is Sonic Spinball followed by Sonic and Knuckles standalone. Also, I quite enjoyed Adventure, and started disliking the series with Adventure 2, although it had it's moments. After that was a train wreck for Sonic besides that one GBA title...
Best Sonic ever was Sonic CD followed by Sonic 2. Generations is a mighty fine game but there's no pleasing some miserable sods so there's always going to be someone bitching. As for Unleashed, well, I always thought that wasn't so bad. If it wasn't a Sonic game it would have been received so much better. The worst Sonic game I ever played was The Black Knight. Man, that was total shit. GOHC, I found Robotnicks Egg Dragon piss easy, it was the time boss that annoyed the hell out of me. The amount of time I ran out of rigs was a joke plus the controls for that section are really bad. Going from one plane to another takes multiple presses of the Y button at times. Yakumo
You're going to have to Elaborate on that What exactly is wrong with Rush? I've played the shit out of Rush and the Music, Level Design and pretty much everything is top notch. Rush Adventure however that is shit since they add the Nautical Gimmick. Sonic Colors DS is more of a Sequel to Rush and Rush Adventure is Aside from One boss I can't figure out The Game is amazing too. After Playing through Planet Wisp in Generations I am strongly considering getting a cheap used Wii JUST to play Colors in full.
Mainly it's the terrible level design, most of the time you have to jump blindly not knowing if you're gonna fall into a pit or not, plus it has the cardinal sin of any Sonic game: you can't run in a straight section without hitting some hidden spikes. Plus, this was like what, the fourth or fifth Dimps Sonic game and their level designs still sucked? In fact they only got worse, and it's obvious that Dimps can't design a Sonic level worth shit.
I think Exactly the opposite I find nothing wrong with the level design at all. MY DS is out of commission so Can't go back to Sonic Rush and see what you're saying I Really like DIMPS too. I was just playing the Advance games for my Sonic 20th Anniversary special. The only game that made it was Advance 2 though I felt that was the best of the 3
Could someone explain why they find Sonic CD so appealing? I tried it a few years back on a compilation, and I tried really hard but I just could not get it. The levels I played seem designed to prevent you from getting the speed that you need to switch to other eras, and the objective to achieve in every level does not seems clear to me (do i just go trough the levels, or go to a specific era? to obtain what?) I must be missing something. I think Unleaashed is part of of a positive evolution in the Sonic franchise. You can see 2006 as hitting rock bottom and the rest of the games as improvements. Unleashed --> Colors -->Generations Generations could not exist without the previous titles.
Sonic Colours on both the DS and Wii are great, as is the Neo Pocket Sonic game. As for all the love MD Sonic 2 seems to get, I never was that fond of it, the original is my favourite of the 'proper' games. The SMS version of the first game is a lot of fun too
All my childhood I wanted to play Sonic CD. Eventually did- its pants. I don't get it. The level design is horrible. 2,3, S&K are masterpieces. I can play them blindfolded now- even 15 years on, I know the levels like the back of my hand. Oh, and the SMS games are great, too!
I didn't think Sonic CD was so great at first either but when you look at like, This is a true sequel to what they did in Sonic 1 and they are changing things up then you appreciate it more. Of course it helps if you have the Japanese version so you don't have to listen to the horrible US soundtrack.
What is wrong with the US soundtrack (note: I haven't heard any other version), I actually like it. But then again I like a lot of things others consider is shit. I see you mention a lot of Sonic on Geny/Megadrive and CD. But what about Sonic for the Game Gear? I have it, but I haven't played it in years, I don't know where it's at. The only Sonic I've played is Game Gear, Sonic CD and, SA. Although I did get a chance to play Sonic for the Master System for a brief 5 minutes. I have Sonic collection for the GC but I haven't play any of them yet. =hugh
