Well reading something on a forum and doing it in real life are two different things. Just becasue someone posts a method that is questionable doesn't mean you anyone is obligated to do it, or even that the site is condoning such behavior.

As for profiting off of MJ's death, I don't see any problem with that. Everyone else is. Can't blame a guy for seeing an opportunity. This really isn't any different than selling tickets to a concert one can't go to or something.

 

Indeed, This has been about nothing but profiting off him since the minute he flatlined. From the media whoring him for ratings to the usual parasites like Jackson and Sharpton leeching for publicity. Hell, His own father used the occasion to pimp his new record label. This whole circus is about getting what you can while you can.

 

This member told us he did it, and used it to make money.

 

I think they are making sure that the name on the ticket match your ID, in order to prevent people from selling tickets. Though I also heard on the news that if tickets were to be sold, they could go for around 10 grand each.

So....find someone with your same name and $10,000 and you will be in business!

 

This is no different from scalping normal tickets, which already drives the price up for "true fans". But, it's a fact of life, and personally I'd rather not wait in line and just pay for good seats if I'm going. So, no biggie.

Actually my first choice would have been to go to the event. I would have sold the second ticket to pay for the cost (if that's OK with everyone here). I spent 6 years in LA and it would have been nice to head back since I haven't been back to the US in 2 years.

In the end I sent my voucher to a friend of mine who lives in LA. I haven't heard back from him so I'm guessing he wasn't able to get tickets.

 

if nobody used the ticket, you should have print the ticket, scan it and let us see how they looked like ;-)

Regardless of what people say, if you can't go you can't go, either sell them or give them away to someone who really wants them. I mean if your really want to fork over your life savings to pay your respects to a childhood hero or something, be my guest.

That said,

I had to whack my brother upside the head. He decided that the whole being Jackson being dead is a scam and he's really alive. And that at the memorial event they will bring out his casket, open it and start playing Thriller, he climbs out and dances, thus ushering in a new era of Michael Jackson...

Made my head hurt trying to deduce the required thought process to come up with such a crackpot idea...

mate, you may not have liked Jackson but he had a bigger impact on people my age (30 something) than another living person. Sure, if David Gahan died it would be a sad loss but who outside of Depeche Mode fans would even know who he was? Everyone knew who Jackson was. Nobody thought he'd die so soon. Jackson was more than an artist to millions, he was an icon if not a bit on the odd side but still an icon.

Even myself who's not a massive Jackson fan still find it hard to believe that he's gone. It's just one of those things you thought would never happen.

Yeah, Jackson is part of my childhood as far as I'm concerned. I wasn't much of a fan these days (who is?) but no one in my age range can deny that he was easily the biggest star in our childhood, probably like the Beatles or Elvis to older people. Maybe it had something to do with MTV starting right when he hit stardom, seeing videos for the first time, etc. When I think about him dying I'm not really thinking of the guy you see on TV today but I'm thinking of the Thriller video, the 1980s, watching videos at my friend's house as a kid, etc.

I saw on the news that they brought out his daughter. The cynic in me says that after this debut we'll be seeing her first album in a year or two.

 

Old man Jackson is probably going to exploit the children like he did to his own. That's what all of the record label flogging was about...

 

Jackson, Kobain, Tupac, Lennon, and Elvis all burst out at the memorial for one big honkey tonkin' "I'M BACK BITCH!" Tour....think of the profits.

 

That guy really needs to be taken aside and given a right fucking good kicking.
