1.6 million people applied, 17,000 tickets available.....and I was one of the lucky winners. I obviously can't go since I'm in Japan and eBay is already pulling listings.

    Any tips? heh

so why did you applied, if you knew that you're in japan and probably can't go there?

try other platforms (like craigslist, yahoo or such) to make teh ca$h ;)

I'm not sure how Yahoo can help.....as for now I'm going to make a listing on eBay with a new account and I'll include an email in it and people can contact me even after the auction is pulled.

if you'll ask something reasonable, I'll buy 'em as I would totally go to LA just to attend memorial celebration.
ps.you shouldn't have applied if you knew you wouldn't be able to attend...

The problem is that I think you have to show a photo ID to pick up the tickets....

    What Assembler said.

I find it odd a couple people have already asked why you bothered signing up when you're in Japan and know you can't go, yet you just ignore the question. Why did you sign up if you KNOW you can't go?

You'll have to excuse me if I didn't take the time to properly plan out what to do in case I was one of a handful of people in the world who won tickets to Michael Jackson's fucking memorial service.

I was reading an article about his death and they had a link to apply for tickets to the memorial service. On a whim I clicked on the link and put in my name and email address. I wasn't even sure when the service was because it's not like I actually planned on winning. It was purely an impulse action, the result of which has fallen into my lap and now I'm trying to figure out what to do with it. This morning I checked on getting a ticket to LA, going to the event, and selling the second ticket to pay for it, but there was no flight that landed in time. I suppose I should have checked all of that out beforehand, but I was too busy planning on what to do in case I got struck by lightening.

    So really...spare me your indignity.

I don't see the problem. To be honest I would've done the same.

Like this is the most questionable thing ever posted on this forum?

Not to say anything negative about anyone but let's be honest... it's not like every dev item or beta/proto in collectors hands was originally acquired through legitimate means.

Sure, it kind of sucks that he signed up for something like this and wasn't sure he could attend. But how many times have you guys signed up for something 'just because'?

I was actually a few hours from being able to attend. The earliest flight getting into LA lands at 4:40 PM (I checked). I'd have to get through customs and then get to Dodger Stadium by 6 PM. If anyone knows about international flying or Los Angeles then you know that that's impossible. But if an earlier flight had been available there's a good chance I would have gone since I know the trip would have been paid for. I would have used one ticket to actually go to the event, then sold the other.

Did I plan it all out when singing up? No. I didn't think I would actually get chosen so I didn't put any thought into it. And besides, how could I possibly know when the acceptance email would arrive anyway? Like I said it came down to a matter of hours.

Oh come on, none of you have never applied for something for the hell of it, knowing there is barely a chance in hell to win? Thats what happened here, so what.

Yeah, one of our members even showed us how to steal money from Wal-Mart via lying to them, by returning stuff they didn't buy from that Wal-Mart from a retail store that was selling it cheaper. Gee, I wonder who that was?

And from what I've heard, thats one of several devious deeds this individual has done to get his hands on certain items.

Not naming names, but our older members might know who it is.

hmmm I am getting extremely tired of the fucking hysteria about of the dudes death, and all the fans mourning his demise. I say "he is dead, and so fucking what ?". All the other bullshit is getting on my nerves. Fuck, if David Gahan died, then I would have thought "damn sad for his family, and oh well no more Depeche Mode like it used to". Micheal *fucking* Jackson is dead, get over it. And the same goes to Elvis *bloody fucking* Presley. Get over it.
