Why not just buy the original Saturn version? From what I gather it's pretty accurate, and probably cheaper, too (well, at least for us schmucks in the USA).

Couldn't you gut a PS2 controller and make a bulky, but effective homebrew converter? The controls are digital, right?

I don't have room for another xbox sized console. I thought about it but I imigine Nights can't be too far behind as a sega ages release....but maybe someday I'll be a saturn owner.

Here is the Sega Ages site on it, if you use google translator then it becomes slightly readable...

    http://ages.sega.jp/vol31/home.html

The game will have split screen as well as Playstation BB support so online battles ahoy! If you have a Playstation 3 then as long as you update to 1.92 then it'll work fine.

Supports many control methods and a Saturn to PS2 convertor should let you use twin sticks as the control system can be edited as you wish.

The Sega Ages collections have been getting better and better, the early releases were cock, Outrun? OMG! However Puyo Puyo Tsu, Wonderboy and Galaxy Force II have been what they should be in the first place, an enhanced version and/or accurate versions of every sega version possible.

You may want Yakumo to order you a sega direct version as they come with lots of gubbins if you order the deluxe version.

A saturn is definitely not the size of an Xbox. It's almost half the size, and more than half the weight. Plus, you can always just put it away when you're not using it.

As a VirtualOn fan I've to say...

    ...that it looks like shit...

Seriously, why releasing it on a limited area (japan) and of all consoles in PS2, with barely better graphics?

Why not XBLA with HD textures and full antialiasing?

I wish Sega would release some of these here. they did actually but none of them were any good.

I HOPE they do Nights next.

But we need to harass sega about bringing more Sega ages games out here. It was sega that said the PS2 is still where the money is.....put some of these out and make some already.

I took this picture JUST for this thread. The Saturn definatly is more than half the size of the xbox and is close to about as heavy.

Some people always whinging. It's a straight arcade port, something people have been wanting for ages. It's model 2 so it's not going to be cutting edge in terms of graphics.

Probably because the PS2 would be the console it will sell the best on in Japan, and as the Xbox 360 is still doing crap in Japan maybe? As Virtual On did better in Japan then other countries you would think they might want to concentrate on the Japanese market. Plus it's part of the Sega Ages collection so that could be another reason.

I'm still hopeful that Sega Ages might do a decent version of Daytona USA....

I swear my cousin's saturn was as wide as my xbox.....but I guess you're right Pictures don't lie.

Daytona was best on Dreamcast I still play it every now and then.

Still keeping my fingers crossed for Nights and Burning rangers. Maybe a good Mark III/Master System collection too....

To me it looks more like a Saturn port, and BTW I wasnt asking for it, I've a Saturn with VirtualON:110:

And releasing it worldwide on XBLA would mean less publishing costs and an overall bigger audience.

He probably meant rumble, and analog support on the buttons, not just the joysticks.

Saying that, I don't think making a homebrew converter is possible if the signal has to be variable to mimic an analog input, not just a button push.

Does such an item exist (outside of homebrew?) I've only seen (and one) the reverse.

    Thank you.

Look again. There will be descrepencies as Model 2 output 22.5khz, and the PS2 doesn't support that. It's polygons though, and not pixels, so it works out with much fewer artifacts when running 15khz interlaced.

Number of Xbox360's in the world: Not that many
Number of PS2's in the world: 800 billion

...this doesn't touch on the fact that only 12 people in America give a shit about Virtual On.
I believe it was you even that mocked somewhere her once saying, "Say to yourself... 'I will think before posting.' "

Hmmm... worth going out and getting a modem to get my ass absolutely crushed in this? Maybe. I'm going to run and pick it up anyway.

Virtual On had online-multiplayer support on the Saturn?

    Though the netlink I belive.

When I said Dual Analog I ment using the Sholder buttons and 2 analog sticks to emulate the Twin sticks on the Dual Shock pad.

you could always take a twin stick and wire it to one of those Saturn rerelease controllers for PS2. I know, bastardizing two limited edition controllers for one game..

The Net Link (red) version did. VO:OT was the first online DC game in Japan, as well, if memory serves... it was touted as such, although I thought Frame Gride came out first.
