Agreed, if the package is rolled over by a car but if the package was thrown around in avan/plane at least it would absorb some of the impacts.

    The fuck? :dejection:

Seriously dude how the hell do you always have this kind of luck?

And why do people who have these kinds of items not treat them with FUGGIN CARE?!!
(129$ FFS....seriously. But considering the UK INTL shipping prices as of late 129$ may not have been enough. I went to the post office last week to get a quote on shipping two controllers in retail packaging valued at 46$ with insurance to the UK ;with my own box and having to buy tape separate since they don't tape for you anymore; and the cheapest option with insurance was 45$. FORTY FIVE FUGGIN DOLLARS)

    *Sigh* this sucks...so much!

    Also:
This seems like a very good idea. Have them ship it to someone near them and then have that person ship it to you. PROPERLY.

I don't know where you live. But where i've lived the last some odd years in the US it doesn't work this way...at least when you have a community Mailbox
[IMG] Which is really common these days. Ours doesn't have any outgoing slot except for small tiny letters.

Luckily I live just down the street from my PO. About a 5 minute walk.

Foam chips aren't going to defend shit if a forklift runs it over, and thats what it looks like to me.

Looks like some cunt tried to straighten out the box the best he could.

Issue is electronics basically end up kia when getting posted long distances if they dont have those original polystyrene inserts.

or well packed in a hard case of some kind or crate i've got things from china, japan and the usa and they've been perfectly fine but some things i've got from within the uk have been terribly packed, i got a dreamcast that was also in a shoebox (big shoebox like womans boot sized) with one thin layer of bubble wrap wrapped around it. and everything else bouncing around inside luckily it worked and it only cost me £7.50 inc postage so i didnt mind.

people just dont care once they've got your money shove it in a box n throw it at the post office / postman / currier who equally dont care.

It's really weird to see this always happening.

Maybe the people that works delivering things to you hate you. And that happens on purpose?

Here for me, the packages always go to the distribution center after 3 failed delivers, because I'm not here during the day. I sometimes expect something being threated bad because I hear lines like: "oh, it's a miracle you are here today! the packages always are redirected here for pickup"

I'm not always considering people with bad intentions, but I understand that they are bad paid and can got angry with the wasted time. Who knows...

Man that sucks.. I hope it wasn't a prototype Playstation 1...

When I bought my copy of Akumajou Dracula X for the Saturn, I asked the seller to ship it in a small box with bubble wrap. I got a box with the CD case floating freely with no padding. The case was busted, the OBI card was torn, and the manual was bent up and the disc was scuffed. Thankfully ebay sided with me as the seller would not accept a return. Gee, I wonder why? I have since replaced it with one that's brand new and one that's open and in mint condition.

Honestly shipping in a small box via airmail is not expensive. Even a well padded package sent over SAL is pretty cheap.

I've had problem with UPS. They seems to go out of their way to destroy everything they send to me. I figure the shipper had collected a few thousand in insurance claims last year alone.

Once they left a $200 computer case (brand new) in the rain because they didn't bother to take 2 more steps and put it in the covered porch. Or left a $1000 camera lens unsigned for even though it required signature. I could have been a dick and claimed I never got it but why make the UPS any more angry with me? Occasionally the delivery web page also mentioned no one home, left notice even though I was outside tending to front yard all day that one day and never saw a brown truck. Other time I was inside and could see the road next to the TV if I opened the blind, never saw them at all. Lost or lazy?

I go out of the way to have anything I get shipped by USPS or FedEx, damaged shipment is very rare.

I bought a APC X 1000 UPS system. It came shipped in a fucked up box with newspaper for padding. Inside was the original product retail box with item in original packaging. Thank god for the foam padding or else my unit would have been fuckbuggered up when I got it. At least it wasn't expensive enough to cry if it were destroyed and currently keeps my "life" safe. USA mail service sure is a fuckload of bullshit nowadays...

Almost forgot. Reminds me of the time I bought a copy of Geist Force from ASSEMbler. It came padded very well and even had a "fragile" sticker on it. No damage whatsoever from shipping on the packaging. The jewel CD case it came in was busted but that didn't matter since I have dozens of those laying around.

*cringe* Just those very words make me think of the beginning segment in Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. And sadly enough, that's probably an accurate portrayal of some delivery guys. Also, I'm sorry for your misfortune and hope things can be taken care of.

I don't really have many issues with shipping these days. at least when it comes to packaging. What problem I do encounter a lot is that many sellers use less than required postage and I often have to go to the post office to pay the rest. Just the other day, I received a package with a single first class stamp on it! I'm more furious with the post office accepting it like that than I am with the seller.

Looks like your freight got jammed/crushed behind another pallet or been crammed into limited space to be able make the flight. I see it all the time at work. If you are always buying from overseas find yourself a local agent/customs broker and choose sea freight for the delivery mode. Cuts out the postal service altogether since you would have seller take the item directly to your agents exporter, or couriered to the exporter. Exporter loads container which sails to your country and over to your agents yard, which you would want to pick up directly from.

Theres other cool tidbits that you can ask of a customs broker/agent like photos before departure and after arrival, notifying exporter that a certain item is extremely fragile/requires extra care stickers etc, we even had our exporter put some items into storage for two weeks until we got a container that wasn't filled to the brim.

Still though this seller was a dronk and SHOULD HAVE done the decent thing and used the extra postage money for safe and secure packaging and not to line his pockets with cash

If there's one thing I always do, it's package the fuck out of anything I've sold even if it ends up costing me a little more, mainly because in the present day of eBay seller rape I can't be arsed with the hassle I might get.

I also photograph (and sometimes video) everything I send out too, especially if it's a high desirable such as an iPhone or something.

Lastly I will use a courier service wherever possible and seldom use the Royal Mail, they just don't care anymore and I've even had registered parcels left two streets away from me at wrong addresses just because the postman couldn't be bothered to differentiate from number 4 x street and number 4 y street.

I'm not really patriotic but I don't think the Royal Mail deserve the "Royal" designation anymore. When I was a kid you'd get mail around 8 am 1st class and then again later in the day 2nd class now it's just once and not usually until around 3pm, so I ask what is point in price difference/1st, 2nd class differential? The whole thing just seems like a gamble "throw money at us and we'll see if we can get it to you, fucks know what day or what time".

The icing on the cake for me was when some postmen refused to work if it was slightly below freezing due to risks of falling over!! Getting pretty fed up of the bullshit in this country.

does whats printed on the box affect how strong it is? would a plain cardboard box have been any better?

it doesnt seem that the packaging was the problem more the postal service due to the damage, even with shit packaging that parcel looks like king kong had a wank with it

and im sorry but after all these years and your bad luck (you do seem to lose alot of stuff or it gets damaged in the post etc.) you would go to the hassle of checking how things are going to be posted out and if its not sufficient then tell them to package it according to your specs, even if it cost a couple of dollars more, especially if its something you felt was this important?

He said he paid for $129 for shipping alone, so I am guessing he already does this.

my point was you would think for $129 he might have checked a bit more on how it was going to be packaged before it was sent out, especially since this seems to happen to him more often than most

You have a point, but remember that the buyer can only go so far with that. It's ultimately up to the seller on how the item is packaged no matter what the buyer has requested. For example, If the buyer says make sure it is in a 10x10x10 box with another 5x5x5 box inside of it surrounded in bubble wrap and fill the large box with shipping peanuts, he could end up receiving a beat-to-crap package with only one poorly packed box that doesn't meet the spec of their agreement whatsoever. Some people don't understand how badly packages can be treated so they protect things up to a level in which they personally feel will keep it safe, even though they are just guessing really(and usually wrong). You really have to go over board with "It's better safe than sorry" in this kind of scenario.
